Doesn't sound like PA is willing to work with the NHL's 3 main issues. League responded by saying it won't budge. No progress. As you were.
I wonder why the meter went from No Progress to just over The Hump since this afternoon. - Aliaksandrhn
Because Ek took a nap and had a dream about a hockey game that made him feel good therefore optimeter bump. |

So Eks, any hate mail from either side yet? Or was that just some catchy blog title you came up with? - hefnerta
Why would they be angry if they didn't read it? |

but their building can't.
So even if it is a "good" hockey market, they are still not brining in more revenue than the Jackets per say for a Canadian market.
My point is, you can't judge a good hockey market vs a bad one, when TWO canadian teams bailed in the last 20yrs, from "good hockey markets". - BooBoo997
Is this a joke?
Please tell me you are joking.
Or else you need to sue your economics teacher. |

I never ever said good hockey markets, I said good hockey towns.....there is a difference I think you would agree |

NHL should just bring in scabs at this point. I think it would be funny. |

Players really need to ask themselves; is holding out for an extra dollar in mid-January really better than signing a deal now, and getting a couple more pay cheques?
Because the answer is no. - Atomic Wedgie
They have already lost 3 times the amount of money (with the make whole) they would have lost playing a full season at a 50/50 split. What makes you think they're any smarter now? They are a month away from getting crushed by the owners next year if they don't sign a deal. They can't be that dumb can they?

They are not dumb. They know exactly what their doing. Most of the players have more cash than they need. If they truly cared about money a deal would of been made. They are choosing pride over cash really. |

Hmm, don't both sides have to care about your opinion in order to be pissed about it Ek?
Seriously, I doubt the NHLPA or the NHL cares one iota about what you or any respectable sports reporter writes. That's quite clear. They don't give a rusty (frank) about the fans, so why care about media? |

BoG member has own proposal per Lebrun.
9 year CBA, 6 yr limits and buyout options. - Feeling_Glucky
Thanks for the update.
Respectfully yours,
Things mentioned back on page 11
P.S. - still no word on who (if anyone else) on the owners side would back this idea. The fact that the players interviewed would be all over it like a duck on a junebug probably says quite a bit about whether the owners would be equally quick to sign off, though. |

truth bomb right here
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...should_be_20_team_league/ - wingz4life
It will never happen (obviously). The only parties that would really benefit are the top 3 teams in the league making 84% of league revenues (of course it would make for a more healthy league overall, but you would have to think the top teams would be the only ones FOR the contraction option).
The players don't want less jobs, and 10 owners aren't just going to fold up their franchises.
In reality, they will probably add 2 more teams in the near future. |

Yes, because the players and owners really care about what you or anyone say's about them. |

Count me as a fan who's not really interested in a 48 game season. From a Leafs fan's perspective, that's a lose-lose situation. Even if there was some sort of miracle and the Leafs managed to win the Cup, with all the Leaf hate in this league not one fan outside of Toronto would recognize a 48 game season championship (and it's tough to argue with that). How ridiculous does 48 regular season games followed by four best-of-seven playoff rounds sound? It's not worth it. Shut it down. |

From your perspective, thats a lose-lose situation.
From a Leafs fan's point of view its a mix bag full of a plethora of emotions and wishes.
Im a Leaf fan and winning a cup in an 82, 48, 25 or 1 game season is better than anything weve seen, had and will mostly get for decades. Ill take anything I can get, because only an idiot fan would suggest that not watching their team play is better than watching their team win a cup. |
