It's a business, in which 43% of the business is failing. If you're a hockey fan or an NHL fan you kinda have to lean toward the side of the owners. Players will come and go, but the teams will still stay. In order for this to happen the league needs to be healthy.

The Cup is the hardest to win in sports because of the playoff format, not the 82 game schedule.

What happens in the regular season has almost no bearing on the Playoffs.
Look no farther then the Flyers making the playoffs in a SO on the final game of the season then going to the finals.

The CUP is a war of attrition+luck+skill for 16 teams..
What happens in the regular season has almost no bearing on the Playoffs.
Look no farther then the Flyers making the playoffs in a SO on the final game of the season then going to the finals.

"In light of media reports this morning, I can confirm that we delivered to the Union a new, comprehensive proposal for a successor CBA late yesterday afternoon. We are not prepared to discuss the details of our proposal at this time. We are hopeful that once the Union's staff and negotiating committee have had an opportunity to thoroughly review and consider our new proposal, they will share it with the players. We want to be back on the ice as soon as possible."

Its not going to be as compressed as you think. It might amount to one more game a week, but most likely one extra game every two weeks.

Yeah and that's fine in Canada, Boston, New York (maybe), etc.. But in Carolina ? Florida ?even LA. If I was a season ticket holder in LA and thanks to this lockout I couldn't attend (or sell the tickets to) an extra 3 games a month, maybe more, and then pay for playoff tickets ... I'd be angry.

Those problems would also exist in a regular season, if thats the case. Last time I checked, season ticket holders dont make the schedules and would have to adjust accordingly to fit their schedules in any given season. The problem you speak of isnt lockout specific. Its market specific.

I agree, but 48 games is plenty of lead up to the playoffs. Nobody laughs off football for the mere 16 games and 1 game playoffs.

I am saying he must not delusionally oblivious to *fan opinion* but rather he just doesn't give a poop about it. That is what I meant about him not being stupid.

He hasn't given a damn about our opinions through out this entire process, that fact that we will be even more pissed off at the players should they drop the ball on this one again... that won't impact his strategy one bit when putting this apparent 'counter-offer' together.

This is true. There is so much wrong with it but very true.

I disagree. If there is talks and meetings happening, no reason to do so. The always have the option to do so at a later time.

The Owners have again moved off of a take it or leave it offer, and from the "hill they would die on" to make a better offer to the players. And the PA is running scared?

Never said the PA was running scared at the present time , if anything Fehr simply put these negociations on autopilot and turned down every preposal not to his liking without offering any in return based on the ones by the nhl.

As for the DOI either a deal is in sight or the players are willing to lose more because they cannot file it for a certain period of time.

I wish I liked another sport in situations like this. This sport makes you want to turn your back on it.

I love baseball as much as I do hockey. Im shocked you dont like other sports, with all the teams at your disposal. Like the Giants winning the WS for example.
