a BIG YES SIR! and we'll take brian burke back this way. toronto was just the wrong fit for him ! he's a hell of a hockey guy with a cup on his resume. plus he stiffed bob murray years ago for 1 of the sedin boys!
- wonthecup10

First thing he'd do is punch McDonagh's lights out.

Not a Burke fan, but compared to Stanbow ...... come on down.

It's the same team as last year; with a deeper D-core and healthy forwards. If by promised land you mean the playoffs, I disagree - if you mean Cup, I'll side with you.
- nathanjf

I would like to see this team, the Hawks that is.. not this make-up.. Be in the WCF, year in and year out... at the least.

Leddy, Pirri, and a 3rd for Stastny.
- Ogilthorpe2

Does Pirri have *no* value to the Hawks? What if he was allowed to play wing, ala Patrick Kane?

Brian Burke couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. Another arrogant Harvard know it all who thinks his crud don't stink. And this PRIC K never smiles. I don't want this joyless jagoff anywhere near our club. Great move Toronto

Don't like trading either Leddy or #4.

While #4 will never develop any offensive game and is overpaid. He is gamer when it comes to laying it out there and blocking shots. Who is going to take on that role. Certainly not Keith, Oduya, Olsen, or Leddy. Seabs will do it but he valuable for othere reasons.

Leddy, UFA next year, could really have a break out 1/2 season or next year.

Ok the Hawks should listen and maybe they get a GM under the gun for some reason who is willing to overpay and provide a solution to big hole the Hawks currently have.

respectfully, andersson IS NOT an upgrade over corey crawford.
- wonthecup10

Umm, yeah, he is. Not a huge upgrade, but he is a better goaltender.

Anderson (career) .913/2.79 GAA
Crawford (career) .910/2.51 GAA

Crawford has, however, played on better teams with better defenses

A more telling stat: Anderson registers a shutout every 15 games, Crawford every 24 games—and again, Crawford has played for better teams with better defenses.

Or, you can take what a buddy of mine, a former pro goalie, said: "Crawford can't carry Craig's pads"

I will also add, early in Craig's career, he was obviously talented but undisciplined. The goalie he has become is a very good NHL goaltender, but his career stats are also somewhat skewed by a bit of a rocky start on teams like Florida and Colorado . . . and the 2004 Hawks (who sucked big time)—not a defending Stanley Cup champion/expected Cup contender.

Does this mean rebuild #1242 since '67 for TML?

Leddy is on his rookie contract. He will be a RFA.

I give him credit for getting the better end of the Phaneuf trade, other than that his moves have been pretty underwhelming. No playoffs in what, 5, 6 years in TO?

Pirri is a natural C, Kane is a natural W.

I can't say whether Pirri could make the easier adjustment to W or not. But then I ask is he big enough or is there enough to his game to where he makes a difference at either position in the top 6 of an NHL club?

He's in love with mediocre/overrated USNTDP players, IMO

Probably had time left on his contract—did he not? There's why.

Last season, Burke turned down trading Grabovski to Chicago for a 1st & prospect, and rejected a 1st RD pick for MacArthur from another team

JJ, do you know who this prospect was that was offered?

Possibly....live presser in progress right now...scuttlebutt is Toronto wanted a more corporate friendly face in the GM chair...Burke's abrasive/AS S HOLISH ways were no longer wanted.

Me neither, but he still won that one. I think his big mistake in Toronto was thinking he could rebuild on the fly...bad mix of traded assets and UFA signings. They've never accumulated a collection of high end homegrown talent on his watch like Tallon was able to do.

A post without the word PHUCKING!

Are we seeing a kinder, more refined Philco?
