stop PA was not in the long term plans for this team..not at 5 million a year...wish him well..move on..boyes is a stop gap for one of the kids next year. - NYI78
4 million dollars. Why wouldn't a 26 year old kid who had his best season and 67 points not be in this teams long term plans? Love when people say this, cracks me up. |

Again you are an idiot or retarted! Either way I should not pick on the less fortunate. Do you even have a clue that either of these players production was next to 0 last season?
Gomez is a great team guy with little to no points and Redden was a joke when he signed for 6-7 mil with the rags. Don't believe me look it up! - Oglethorpe72

I always agree with what you have to say but I strongly disagree with the comment about the fight. All it takes is a nice flush shot to hit in you in the right spot and you're gonna go down regardless of now big you are or how small or big the puncher is. No shame in losing a fight to a fellow heavyweight. You're going to win some and you're going to lose some. Not to mention the fact that Lucic is a beast!!! You would be surprised how much damage a short powerful punch can do especially if landed in the right spot. I like what Carkner brings to this team, you're not going to win them all
- Vukota
Your rite Mick. (& 178)
I'm aware that Most knockout punches are those that travel 8-12 inches and land either on the jaw or temple. Those long looping punches are great for TV but do nothing more then piss you off when you get tagged. (like getting slapped)
I just hope it doest become a frequent occurrence. Carkner has been dropped in the past.
I also like Carkner. He's nasty in the crease and doenst hesitate to defend a teammate.

SCLI while Lucic is a beast it is a concern Carkner went down like that. Regarding the team I do not need to see a bunch of fighters but I want to see guys driving the net and giving and taking hits to make a play. I have no patience for guys floating and staying on the outside. DP was not a bad as I though but is still not the answer even as a backup. Poulin could be getting some much needed learning from Nabby. - ses111
Although I'm still concerned that Carkner was dropped. (Never good to take a shot that turns your brain off)
I think Mick and 178 were right. You cant win them all and Lucic is better then I gave him credit for. |

Yep Mick and 178 were right. I'll stand corrected. I give Carkner a ton of credit for going with Lucic. I have to say these guys fighting now makes me nervous. These guys are so big and strong you worry about concussions. I have to say I would not have a big problem banning fighting. |

Hey ses111, Lets not lose our heads over this!
I used to Bounce for $20.00 a night and free drinks. I think these guys can take a punch or two for $600,000 to A Million Plus per season. |

I hear you. He grew on me, wasn't a fan of him for some time myself. His last season sold me, I know it was his contract year but the guy was one of the only ones "playing" night in and night out. For a team starved for NHL proven talent to me it was a no brainer. |

I'm not so sure SCLI. There has been some horror stories lately about some NHL fighters. I think it's worth thinking about. You also have to wonder if Hockey would get more respect and attention from the media without the fighting? - ses111
Fighting as it is today in the NHL is a joke because of the instigator penalty. Remove it and half of these concussions and players like Phaneuf will be gone. Fighting WAS a great part of this sport because there was a reason why these guys were fighting. The fights were real fights, not these half ass wrestling matches these guys have today. It was always an emotional response and added so much to a game, now it does not. With that said I'd like fighting to remain but I'd also like it to be the way it was, get rid of these stupid penalties and eliminate at least 50% of head injuries because of the retribution aspect of it all. OK, you want to do that then you're going to get your a$$ handed to you at some point during the game. Made the games soooooo much more entertaining and created rivalries within the league. |

How many players do the Rangers have to bring in? Nash was not enough? What happened to all the good young players they had? I have no patience if I hear Rangers or Philly are getting someone. |

They have good home grown young players, I don't need to tell you this. They're trying to win, simple as that. Having a good veteran will add to that line up. |

Well they are thinking about it. Ive heard stories on XM Radio that say fighting will be eliminated in a few years.
What is obvious is the league's attempt to change the game so these behemoths who stand over 6 1/2 ft, weigh 250- 300lbs and cant play a lick are phased out of the game. If they cant keep up with the game. They will eventually be phased out.
I enjoy the fight that just starts because two guys who are playing hard. Battling and throwing caution to the wind. One thing leads to another. Tempers flare and they start fighting. They dont think about it. It just happens.
I'm not real big on this staged crap. Two guys plan to fight. Neither is Mad at the other. They fight. They go to the box. They never see the ice again. It serves no purpose.
I can't see having a fight if there is no reason for it.
