I'm not so sure SCLI. There has been some horror stories lately about some NHL fighters. I think it's worth thinking about. You also have to wonder if Hockey would get more respect and attention from the media without the fighting?

Fighting as it is today in the NHL is a joke because of the instigator penalty. Remove it and half of these concussions and players like Phaneuf will be gone. Fighting WAS a great part of this sport because there was a reason why these guys were fighting. The fights were real fights, not these half ass wrestling matches these guys have today. It was always an emotional response and added so much to a game, now it does not. With that said I'd like fighting to remain but I'd also like it to be the way it was, get rid of these stupid penalties and eliminate at least 50% of head injuries because of the retribution aspect of it all. OK, you want to do that then you're going to get your a$$ handed to you at some point during the game. Made the games soooooo much more entertaining and created rivalries within the league.

Yeah, I've been saying this....pretty much since they put that stupid penalty in....so....Phaneuf is going to run Tavares face first into the glass, the ref is going to do nothing (TWO refs, mind you), and I'm supposed to stand there and watch....I don't think so. Phaneuf never would have done that to anyone on our team in the late 1970's, because he would have been well aware that Clark Gillies would have cold cocked him so hard that the people in the front row would have gotten a tooth shower. Some people need the fear of God put into them in order so they might not be a**holes their entire lives. Dion Phaneuf is one of those people.

The good news is that for Philly to get him and sign him, they will have to move quality out the door. They don't have enough cap room otherwise, and so they will end up making a dumb trade (I think JVR for Schenn is going to end up being a disaster, for one example).

i don't think carkner has to win every fight he just has to be willing to drop the gloves and stand up for his team mates.. look alot of guys have lost fights to lucic..i'm not looking that much into it

Yeah, Lucic is a beast that any team would want- the kind of guy who has talent AND can kick your a*s. There aren't enough of them in the league nowadays for my liking. He's worth every penny he's being paid, and then some.

Well they are thinking about it. Ive heard stories on XM Radio that say fighting will be eliminated in a few years.

What is obvious is the league's attempt to change the game so these behemoths who stand over 6 1/2 ft, weigh 250- 300lbs and cant play a lick are phased out of the game. If they cant keep up with the game. They will eventually be phased out.

First off, nobody said I wanted to sign him. Second I was just stating the Rangers were interested, that's all. You guys run with shat sometimes and turn it into whatever you want. Third, I doubt the Rangers are interested in him for his scoring prowess.
