There are alot of other players getting paid more than that that aren't as good. - Cptmjl
I say if you can pay a top 6 forward less than 5 a season on a long term deal, you did a pretty good job with that contract. |

Right up there with passing on Kassian for Dehurt - Vukota
I was really hoping Snow would pick Kassian on that draft day. Dehaan was a surprise and with his injuries his one NHL game last year may be the only one he plays.

All FA's get overpaid and with our payroll a 67 point guy who is 26 and was a FA is worth 4 mil. Losing those 67 points is going to have a negative effect. Sorry but I'm a bit skeptical about Acoin or Boyes reahing that number. - Cptmjl
I agree with you that I dont think Boyes will reach that point total either... But just cuz the Isles have cap room, doesnt mean you over pay a player. Escpecially a player like PA... IMO he just hasnt done it long enough or even consistent enough. Id over pay a player liek Suter or Parise. |

The kid is goign to be soild one day, I wanted to the Avs to trade up that draft year to get him.
Parenteau and Duchene are dynamite together, the guy has some talent and wasnt all just bc of him playing with JT. - DDM-Coga
Parenteau is solid. Didn't get a lot of credit here because everyone said his numbers were inflated playing with JT. He my not hit 67 points for you guys, but he'll be productive. I wish we would have kept him. |

I hear you. The thing is he had success with us, you have to reward that success IMO just like in any job. This may sound crazy to you but I actually think he's worth it especially given the fact that the guy was a FA. We have the cap room, we struggle to reach the floor for God's sake. It's going to be like that for a while at least, don't fool yourself thinking Wang is going to start spending freely when we move to Brooklyn. To me it was a complete total blunder on Snow's part to not sign the guy and even more so not to trade him for something. |

See I dont think Wang will keep the teams payroll around the minimum when we get to Brooklyn... I honestly think, when he offered Smyth, Martin and Volchenkov more money then what they signed... He was embarrassed and really stopped going after the big names. This is why besides the simple fact that they need a new arena... Why he is/was stressing a new arena so much.
Obviously, time will tell (and it prob wont be the first year cuz the players arent going to see the arena until after a full season) but I think he will spend money on the payroll. |

I still think PA is overrated and won't come near his points with JT. I could be wrong, and have been before, but I still think he's Jason Blake 2.0 and will score less than 30 points this year.
I also don't think Boyes is going to be what we need to replace what PA did with JT, and I don't think KO is our best choice on the first line but until Nino is ready he'll have to do

In Boston? Not since the Soviets chanted "Rocky!" have we seen an athlete win the opposition's fans' hearts in such a way. If anyone can do it, surely it's DPesus. - UIF

The point is, for whatever reason, PAP was scoring on the Isles. He had two productive seasons. Why let a guy who obviously produces for you walk away for nothing, especially when the money to keep him wasn't THAT bad? You could have had PAP AND signed Boyes and created some depth. Instead, you let PAP walk for nothing. Doesn't make sense to me... |
