granite run mall?

Ha, no in Montgomeryville. It is a vintage Starter (when they were considered of higher quality, no offense to anyone) Flyers baseball jersey, cream colored with black sleeves and Flyers across the front. I love that thing, had it forever.

I just saw that. It makes no sense unless they traded him for a goalie.

Move to reach the cap floor, or...? I'm not seeing this anywhere else yet.

Confirmed... now for a second round pick in 2014 or 2015. I guess it gives the Bruins some cap space but I don't see what the Isles get out of this.

Reporting the Isles have to be at the cap floor by tomorrow. Seems like a waste of a 2nd round pick to me.

if Thomas ever actually suits up for them, it will guarantee his first loss at the Wells Fargo Center.

Thomas (on phone): "Hey, Garth, I think I'm gonna take off next year, too. And the following..."

"If a contract is tolled, does it still count against the cap?" asked BulliesPhan87 to the thread in general.

The move puts the Islanders above the cap floor and the team can choose to toll the contract so they can keep using the cap hit in perpetuity if Thomas doesn't come back, or just let his contract expire at the end of the season.

If that's the case, I think we may see it labelled as cap circumvention.

If I understand it correctly. There's a loophole that got by the NHLPA.

Yes, and they can use it until he plays again or retires.

Think it gets investigated a la Kovalchuk if they try to carry the cap hit again next year?

It's not really Cap circumvention. It's still money inside the system. The League and the Owners benefit from it.

Not by the League. The NHLPA may have an issue with it.
