Not at all. Just hockey players that are afraid to get hit. You figure before becoming hockey players they would understand it is a tough sport and they will get hit. - ses111
I know. I'm just kidding and I agree 100%. Why do you think I play golf ? |

You're brutal... I don't know how you made this far in life...
I know you don't like to say anything positive about anything Islanders related... but to say the Islanders didn't outwork the Sabres tonight is just ludicrous!!!
Do the Islanders need to improve...yes.
Do they need to make changes... yes.

I'm sure it's no fun going to the front of the net and getting hit but this is what these guys signed up for. It's a contact sport. Unless you are soo much faster than everyone else there is a good chance you will be hit. |

sorry Jimmc, they were awful tonight and Buffalo should never have been in this game. So many shots from awful angles, way outside the slot, directly into the chest of Miller. Terrible decision making, lack of any drive to the net, lazy skating for large portions of the game. Just because you take a bunch of long range and bad angle shots does not mean you out worked the other team. It was a lazy boring effort with very few players actually trying.
Nabby has had one decent game this year, the rest have been filled with good saves and bad goals. We have no option in net, no fire or drive in these players and they're giving up on the season already. - Isles_since_6
I said they outplayed Buffalo... I didn't say they played a perfect game!!!

Not enough physical play. Its really amazing. But who is at fault there. The guys on that team aren't those type of players. JT,Boyes,aucoin,bailey,grabner,Neilson...Amac, hickey, hamonic, streit, lubo |

I think the point is here that buffalo was so god awful, the isles had no excuse to not outwork them which in some ways they did. They outskated them. But in a game like this, if the isles went to the net, played physical, got to dirty areas are were smarter in their own zone, they would have won big.
Miller was good, no rebounds. But he faced a ton of shots with no traffic and from the corners or walls. The Sabres had just as many high quality scoring chances. Unacceptable when you're the home team and the road team comes out flat.
Not doing nearly enough to win |

I think folks frustration is boiling over. While I agree that a majority of the isles shots were from low percentage areas, and had very little help in the way of screens or tips, they flat out dominated the play.
The bigger problem seems that this game completely highlighted where this team lacks... We lack a physical presence in front of both the nets and seemingly have no defensive recognition.. |

It's been like this for 5 years. Saw a stat watching tonight's game, that the isles have given up a goal in the 3rd period for 20 straight games. |

He gave up ONE bad goal. The other two shouldn't have even been SHOTS, never mind goals. Vanek should have been lying on his back, looking for his mouthguard, and Ehrhoff should have been ridden into the glass by Ullstrom. It's the defense that is the problem- specifically, how they are coached to play defense (or should I say, not coached).... - dcb1
Vanek would have scored lying on his back. It wouldn't be the first time.

Poulin is not a great goalie he is basically average this team needs a Lundqvst type goalie to win. Especially with this defense. Poulin will be no better than Nabokov. - mighty13duck
Unfortunately I agree with you on this.

isles have made changes. cappy took 3 loses to realize that reasoner and Boulton are aweful. Cizikas brings it
Say you want about tonight but isles bring that effort night and they will be in the playoffs. They got unlucky tonight. Unlike Thurs vs rags when they were just aweful.
JT should have had a hattrick, Moulson got robbed by Ennis stick.
I thought Bailey and Viz were both very good in their first game. |

Not unless they crash the net and clear the front of their net. Most of the shots tonight were from far away with no screen. |

They certainly out skated buffalo tonight but if they had intiative to go to net and out work teams in scoring areas both offense and defense sides of the ice than what's the point? |

What are Islanders fans general thoughts on Tavares ? Don't watch many Islanders games, but is he turning out to be everything you expected ? To me he doesn't seem to have that X-Factor, is he generally a forward and doesn't do much on the defensive side of things, is he everything a Number 1 pick should be ? |

he's amazing, rest of the team sucks (frank)ing COCK!
Instead of getting him talent to play with that (frank)ing loser cocksucking slob of a GM is getting to the cap floor by trading for a bigger loser cocksucking slob that will never dawn the Isles jersey.
(frank) ME THIS IS RIDICULOUS! |

again we lose to a (frank)ing backup goalie. I'm sorry but I have a hard time losing games to backup goaltenders. I think teams are highlighting games against the Isles to give their starter a break. It's embarrassing. Montoya, Hedberg, and Ennis beat us.... REALLY!!!! (frank)! |

Exactly....they did "out skate" the Sabres....but "out skating" is for shinny, not NHL hockey. What they need to do is out skate AND out work the opponent, and in their own zone, they appear utterly incapable of the latter. As, other than Boston, I don't really see a consistency among teams insofar as being noticeably larger across the board than our team (they're not the biggest squad in the world, but it's not like they're all tiny compared to the other players, either), I've got to think that the coaching staff simply does not INSIST that they play harder in their own zone. The fact that ALL of them are constantly attempting to push forward leads me to believe that they're being encouraged to play that way, and it's failing them, big time. If the loss last night doesn't turn THAT light bulb on, then this coaching staff has to go. |
