Dee Karl: Isles vs. Sabres after Nemo
Many roads are still closed in Suffolk county, but Nassau is doing better. - Dee Karl
The Islanders are 63-70-22 under Head Coach Jack Capuano. Jack needs to win. And he needs to win tonight.
Impressive he has managed to never have a winning record since he started coaching, re-sign this guy for another season Snow |

No mention of the Isles/Oilers rumored deal in the blog? May not turn out to be anything but worth mentioning especially after that brutal game the other night. |

It's going to be a big surprise announced during the game tonight for the 700 fans there. You know how Wanger and Garf love surprises. Horcroff Hemsky and a second rounder for Okposo and Streit. YAAAAAHHHOOOO!!!! If we indeed make a trade with the Oilers there is nothing that team has that they will give up I should say that we need to be competitive. Picks at this point are a joke and the players i mentioned are not helping us become "contenders"(I laugh every time I say this word in reference to the Islanders). |

I'd trade them Okposo for their best foam finger vendor. |

30 inches of snow where I live. Can't get my car out of the area I live in. Haven't plowed yet. It's bad for us down here. |

horcoff is injured if I remember correctly. I'd take Hemsky and Ryan Whitney for Streit and Okposo.

I can see that or something along those lines. Players needing a new start some place else. Rather see these guys packaged for someone who can realistically help the club instead of someone looking to find their game. This would be a lateral move with it favoring Edmonton if anything. Whitney has not been playing well in fact worse than Streit. Why am I going with an EK rumour? |

because we're all craving some kind of movement that doesn't involve bringing in a draft pick, prospect, suspended or retired player
I would have thought a better defenseman but with streit a ufa I think that'd be pushing it.

Not sure what Ek would mean by it but I certainly wouldn't consider that to be a trade to "shift the balance" |

I think most fans just want something to improve the team now, we've been "rebuilding" for 6 years with no improvement. Enough with the pick and prospects, this team needs help now not five years from now, that's what the last six years were for so we could watch a competitive team now. I don't think it's a matter of "craving" more a matter of enough is enough show the fans you have any intention of trying to win because it's been pretty clear you don't for some time now. |

In hopes of getting a feel for how you Islanders fans view your players and in light of Ek's recent Oilers & Islanders rumors, how would you feel about a deal like Hemsky and Whitney for Streit and Bailey? In terms of fairness, how does it stand? Add a pick or prospect to either side? Are you open to trading Streit? Am I right when I hear that Streit has been playing uninspired hockey of late? |

There are rumors that it is possible to land Yapukov if we deal Okposo, Streit and first round pick to Oilers. Any news about that? |

That would be too much in our favor, IMO. Streit is weak defensively (to put it nicely), and Bailey is playing for the first time this season tonight, and has been extremely inconsistent in previous years.
Now, I don't know much about Whitney, but from what I hear Hemsky has been playing well. |
