again we lose to a (frank)ing backup goalie. I'm sorry but I have a hard time losing games to backup goaltenders. I think teams are highlighting games against the Isles to give their starter a break. It's embarrassing. Montoya, Hedberg, and Ennis beat us.... REALLY!!!! (frank)! - Mr.Black
When did Ryan Miller became the back up?

Honestly what pissed me off most last night was Moulson missing 2x open nets when once again Jesus distracted the whole buffalo team then passes it to him. |

I'm sorry Jimm, I like your optimism on most days but last night was a train wreck. They out shot them? yes. Did they out skate them? yes. Did they lose? YES.
How many NHL teams do you know allow another teams defensmen to grab a breakaway? This team needs serious help from a coaching standpoint on Defense.
Lubo helped offensively last night, just creating shots and giving opportunity but, how many times did he flub a pass and have it go the other way on him for a 2 on 1? I think I counted 2 in the 3rd period alone.
Offensively, the Islanders are not an in front of the net kind of team. When management started this rebuild, they drafted with the "new" NHL in mind. They started taking and drafting smaller, more agile players who play a behind the net or umbrella type of offense. I think they are finally now trying to correct that but it will set them back ONCE AGAIN. They realized last year when they were out muscled every game, they added Carkner, Boulton and drafted all big sized defensmen.
This team has no identity. They play well for a few with a system, teams recognize that, adjust and it takes the Isles another 5 or 6 games to learn a new play system. It's been this way for a while now and will only continue... |

Vanek's always been a good player, not just against the Isles. Hasn't always had this much success this consistently, but I remember trying to convince you guys over the offseason...maybe during some random trade discussion...that he wasn't just some softy perimeter player.
edit...do agree that on his goal though, there were four Isles standing around him watching the puck instead of taking the body. - UIF
I know he plays against other teams good besides the Isles. Players just seem to play really well against the Isles because they suck. It's that simple. You can see it when they put the stats up before or during the game. That was me who you were talking to about trade scenarios involving Vanek. I was never a huge fan of him, I know they over paid him because of what happened with Drury, funny how things turn out . I always knew he was a good player just wasn't a fan. He is living up to that contract, good for him. As for the rest of the Sabres they look terrible. For a team that always seems to be competitive they seem to have taken a step back, not just coming to this conclusion from yestrerdays game. |

Really? What do you need? He's considered a super star by most already and is probably in the top 5 players in the entire NHL. I'll take that "x factor" any day thanks! - Cptmjl
Next year, if he has Nino on the wing, he'll finally be able to show how good he really is. You really need two up front who are on par, in order to showcase talent, IMO. |

I counted 2 with in a 2 minute period of time, he had five total that i counted. He looked alot like MAB but it's his first game. He won't be here for much longer I'm pretty sure so it won't matter. This season has the look of more of the same. Onward with the "rebuild" |

Maloney played for the Rangers when the Islanders dominanted them in the 80's...he has a grudge with the Islanders... |

Most fans don't need Brooks help with being pissed. If you watched this team in the eighties and saw how much they were a part of LI and knew how they were the hardest ticket to get in the NHL. Harder than Toronto or Montreal. Then u see what they are today you don't need Brooks to make you anymore angry. Snow and Wang don't require any help they are doing a good job on their own. - Cptmjl
I used to have Islanders season tickets in the 70's and 80's. It's really too bad they can't get back on track. I do think they will start getting better (unless they do something stupid like trade Tavares) when they move to Brooklyn. I'll probably get a partial plan when they move... |

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!
Visnovsky to Edmonton for Gagner!!!!
It's just part of the deal. There are other names being mentioned but the two above are the focal points of each team's demands. |

Ohh no
He's a former 1st rounder.. so we know Snow likes...
He could be one hell of an answer to our second line center woes
Ohh yha, & he can play.. granted he is another on the small side player.. but he has skills.
We dont need to start picking up talent like this....

Where is this coming from? I've yet to see anything on twitter, TSN, Sportsnet, etc. Plus, there's no way it could be legit since that would mean Ek was actually right on an Isles rumor |

OK, and the other 10 people on here saying the same exact thing I'm saying are wrong too? That's my point which you are avoiding as usual. Also you can put whatever spin on it you want Capuano I mean Jim, saying they played a great game when they actually didn't. You'll be saying they've improved when they don't make the playoffs again. As usual you're right? Come on Jim, you know that's not truth - Cptmjl
I didn't say they played a great game... I said they outplayed the Sabres...
They outskated, outshot them, outplayed them!!!
We all know the issues with this team!!!
Again... please try and keep up!!!
Or spin it again... |

That's why it makes me sick, I 100% agree with everything he said. I'm not a Brooks fan, far from it. The guy has done nothing but speak the truth, Isles fans may not want to hear it but it's the truth. Good example of this is jimmmccc72 - Cptmjl

I agree with the aspect that the Islanders dominated the game. The bigger problem is not necessarily the breakdowns that occured as a lack of coaching but rather once again we're exposed as a perimeter team. We can pepper all the shots we want but when it comes to having players who can win battles in the dirty area we fail miserably. This is why we can outshoot a team 43-15 and still lose. That problem becomes magnified against better, bigger and stronger teams like Philly, Boston, Pittsburgh etc. Simple fixes can eliminate the defensive breakdowns but any fix for our lack of strength in high percentage areas have to come from outside the Islanders club. That's a BIG problem for a team that can't score free agent and still has limited resources to make a deal that won't hurt the long term prospects of the franchise. |
