The puck deflected off a guys leg right on Ott's stick. No kidding fleury wasn't over by Ott.
Gerbe was the beneficiary of puck luck. - Gunner Staal
Exactly ...love Gerbe's story, love his effort but he does not belong in NHL

-Trade Myers to Winnapeg for Evander Kane (add scoring, grit, and toughness... Categorical stats which the Sabres desperately need, & areas where Myers is coming up short).
-Call up Brayden McNabb (6'5", 200+ lbs, and he's the best open ice hitter Buffalo has seen since Mike Peca).

True,
Just seems like Miller cares to the point that it's killing him
I don't get that sense from Pommer
Not that he doesn't care...
Idk really know how to describe it
When I hear pominville talk it doesn't seem to me that there's much fire in him
Not that I need him to yell and scream,
But he almost seems complacent
Maybe that's just how he is, and that's fine I guess,
But not if you're captain
Not sure if any of that makes much sense - jdfitz77
Pominville is even-keeled, which isn't always a bad thing. It's not much of a stretch to say the guy was just plain awful today. This is where he being even-keeled is an advantage. He can come out next game and forget about it. A more fiery player might have that stick with him for a while, and could affect him for a while. The trade-off is that you don't get a player that likes to throw things around after a loss.
On a side note, I think it's time to take Pominville off the point on the powerplay. I feel like Ottawa, Boston, and Pittsburgh gave him the one timer at the point knowing it wouldn't affect them. |

He was way out of the net though. That's good work by Gerbe to draw him all the way over there. Especially when the shot didn't even make it through. - HonkFortheGoose
Where else would Fleury be with a shot on the way? Gerbe was trying to shoot on net. |

I thought on the 5 on 3 they should have had Pominville shoot more. I think his shot is one to be respected.
Pominville had his worst day in a long time today though. Blue line turnovers are killers. Especially when you are inches away from getting it out. |

All rambling aside what is everyone's honest assessment of the team so far? I mean one night I'm thinking we should tank for the draft pick then the next I see flashes of a team that could sneak into the 7th/8th seed.
I thought as a whole they looked good today and held on with one of the best teams in the league...Miller stops the Martin shot and we walk away with at least 1 pt and only 1 pt outside of 8th and if we win were in 8th place (granted teams have played less games than us)
Also, we have a very heavy stretch of home games to close out the season
So do we tank it or keep fighting to pull it together? |

Something players on this team should do more often. An Assist is an assist, accident or not. |

Someone called into the WGR postgame show with a good point (surprisingly): Vanek, Hodgson, and Pominville is one of the hottest lines in hockey? Why break them up for the powerplay? - buffalofan19
Do they ? Havent noticed but I would agree altho I think its more important to keep Vanek with Hodgson. Those two have something special between them. |

I don't want McNabb anywhere near the disaster that is this team right now. I'm perfectly content to let him stay in Rochester on a team that's playing pretty well. |

This should never really be the goal. Ever. I'd rather they just tank at this point and get the high pick.

Same...but if we wind up with the 4th pick I'll scream
Jones Mackinnon Drouin is ideal
Hypothetically if we wind up with the 1st pick I dont think we can take Jones given our desperate need for scoring....even though he is the clear #1 pick at this point |

McNabb has racked up 3 goals and 24 assists in Rochester. That's where he's disappeared to. He also won the hardest shot contest at the AHL all star game. |

Its time I think. The team not being ready in the first five mins is his fault and this team needs someone who will fire them up. |

The mose sensible post I have seen on this board in quite some time.
Where do I sign up for this? Where ever it is, sign me up for this please!
This would be like the Hodgson/Kassian deal where it is a win win for both GM's and teams.
Fresh post.
Thank you!!!!
