Whats your opinion of Lindy then and his tenure here ? - buffalo 1
I think he was a tough, blue collar player who for the past 5-6 years has had mostly soft, speedy players. Instead of coaching to his players strengths, he stubbornly sticks to his "system" but does not hold the players accountable when they deviate from his system.
Now Darcy has brought in some players with grit and physicality, but the culture of playing soft is rooted too deeply in the core of the team. Ruff may not have built that culture, but he allowed it to grow.
I like Lindy. I think he really wants to win and wants to see Buffalo succeed. But his downfall is trying to coach to his strengths instead of developing the strengths of his players. A change is overdue. |

My favorite is that Millers struggles arent even that bad. Compared to:
Brian Elliott, Jonathan Quick, Corey Schneider, Henrik Lundqvist, Mike Smith, Jimmy Howard, Mikka Kiprusoff..... All these goalies were top 10 last year and arent even close this season. Cam Ward, Jonas Hiller having awful years. |
|
|
|
He's also a restricted free agent. As stupid as Darcy can be at times, I don't think it's possible he could (frank) this up.
Though I wouldn't be completely surprised either. - HonkFortheGoose

I've always said Cam Ward is overrated. |

Let's get him extended sooner than later
Like u point out, the longer we wait, the more he'll cost
I want weber extended now also
I see no reason to wait on either guy - jdfitz77
I hope he stays, I just can just see Regier screwing it up, maybe pissing him off and he decides to head off. |

The only number that you need to look at is 466. 466 shots against shows you that there isn't much team defense being played in front of Miller. It's really inexcusable.
And I'm not saying our defensemen suck. Our defensemen would look a lot better right now if the team played like a team in their own zone. |

Sometimes if you say something long enough it eventually comes true.
Leopold has been a pretty solid guy for us the last two years. This year, I will agree. He's pretty bad. Though the entire D seems to be getting a little better game by game. - HonkFortheGoose
I've never really led his "defensive" game
Maybe it's just that he plays top2 minutes here when he should get more like 4/5 minutes...
If u look at him when he was on an actual GOOD team...
(Pitt for example gave him #6 minutes in the playoffs right before he came here)
I prob exaggerate with him being bad
But he's used in a way that he just isn't good enough to be successful in
And we have too many guys like that
That's partly on the coach
But it's also partly on us not having anyone good enough to fill certain roles, ESP on defense IMO |

That's 100% on the coach.
Why exactly did Jochen Hecht have more TOI today than Foligno??
Because the coach has lost his stuff and needs to go. |

Over Miller? - HonkFortheGoose
Cam Ward over Miller, geez Miller has some bad games, but no freakin way, Miller has faced the most shots of any goalie in the league, even the NBC stooges highlighted that fact. Actually listening them you would think Miller just doesn't look like the Holy one he is the Holy one! |

Agree. Its no coincidence that when you face a ton of shots you let in more goals. Look at the top goalies from last year In Lundqvist, Quick, and Elliott. Those three teams were in the top 5 in least shots allowed in the NHL. Rinne was the only goalie with fantastic numbers despite facing almost 30 shots per game |

Just watched the Ryan Miller postgame comments. Does anyone think there is a chance Miller says fock it decides not to resign with Buffalo out of frustration?
I think this is a possibility and I think it would completely force the Sabres into a true rebuilding mode they've needed to be in for 6 years. - Buffalo--Sabres
I actually just said a little while ago that I really can't see any way that he'll re-sign
He's constantly hung out to dry
If we don't make some changes defensively I wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave
I wouldn't even be surprised if he asks for a trade at this point |

What about 05-07. Those years our defense certainly wasn't our strength and lindy ruff didn't seem to be stifling the offensive production...
Perhaps he's become more stubborn in recent years but /shrug. It's hard to say what goes on in the locker room |

He wasn't really blaming Miller. He basically said the result would be the same whoever was back there. Indicating that the team itself was the problem.
Maybe I'm reading it differently than you though. - HonkFortheGoose

Not A miller fan as you know so.I think hes a solid number one whos rarely out of position and he s generally had our number.Millers a high risk goalie without the natural skills of Hasik. Its just my opinion and it hasnt changed over the years hes been here. |

I keep trying to think of a good response to why does Hecht have more TOI than "Player X" and I just can't think of one, can't, he is horrendous, truely terrible, the mere fact he is on the rink always indicates to me the team has decided to play out the year and try to get more high draft picks, he SUCKS worse than Stafford.

Hodgson & Weber are both restricted,
So unless there's an offer sheet they will both be back
Anyone surprised O'reilly hasn't signed an offer sheet from someone? |

Cam Ward has only gotten his team to the playoffs once. The year he won the Cup doesn't count, because he wasn't the #1 that year. So, I have to disagree with you here. Miller is a big part of the reason we've made it there. Ward can't say that. |

I got banned earlier for having this argument with a guy. At 466 shots its a war of attrition at that point. Even if they could pluck the hottest goalie out of thin air, what would be the point? Its like putting the best race car driver in the slowest car in the field and expecting great results. |
