Richards was a mistake and theres no excuse for a line of guys making like 22 mil this year with gaborik and nash to have like 10 points. Im not sure that glen sather should be allowed to use other peoples check books anymore. How many of his big signings turn out. Redden lol... Gomez...now wete talking about richards. I do like gaborik but hes only a year left - Joshc
the rules have changed since the Rangers gave Richards his contract.
the "cap re-capture penalties" will force the Rangers to have a 6.67 million cap hit until 2020 for Richards no matter what.
Brad Richards has a complete no movement clause on his deal, a contract that nobody will want to trade for anyway.
The team has one more amnesty buyout left, at this rate it will be a no brainer as to who it will be used on. Only question will be using on him this summer or next.

I think it will depend on Getzlaf being unsigned and Torts not being here, as long as he is Torts will stay loyal to Richards, hope he just turns it around and we can stop talking about this, as long as Nash and the 3 d-men are back this week there is more than enough talent to go win a Cup.

I think if I had to predict right now what will happen, and this prediction changes if they win one of the next two Cups somehow, is that they will amnesty buyout Richards in June 2014.
I am really starting to have a hard time believing we'll still have a cap hit of 6.67 million for Richards in 2018 when he'll be 38 years old.

With the long CBA you'd think they'd be very aware of that cap hit and concern over production.
After last season I never thought the tone on this board would be so gloomy. I have tried to temper my concern by staying positive and being confident these guys would right the ship....now, a third of the way through...concern is no longer tempered. The biggest concern and (and this is a theme already touched upon) is the lack of fire, McDonagh gets hit like that and nobody repsonds...what do you think Prust is thinking while witnessing that? Never thought we would be discussing a Richards buyout or Torts job security...never. There is still time but given the injury situation and Nash's uncertainty going forward, this may just be a case of too many new faces, not enough time to assess how to effecively replace the depth lost in the offseason and start looking toward 2013-2014 although with thecap coming down who knows!!!??? I still make the Nash trade, boy, signing Prust for what he wanted seems like a discount doesn't it?
I would bet my house Callahan drops the gloves tomorrow night at thefirst sign of aggression on Winnipeg's part...someone has to step up and set a tone that they are not going to take punishment without having to answer...

Well ask our gm. If he has ANY positive trade value we do it knowing some contracts here we will need the amnesty buyout for others
Still can't believe Pacioretty didn't get suspended, Habs fans need to take the blinders off and forget that they are relevant for the first time in 20 years(won't last), Mcdonagh shoulder were facing the end boards the entire time, his only motion is playing the puck, unless he's beetlejuice his head never turned towards Pacioretty, by Habs fans standards Lemieux's hit on Draper was Drapers fault.

Let's compare the videos, Mcdonagh clearly holds Pacioretty up while never leaving his feet because he has regard for the opposition, Pacioretty follows through while leaving his feet with no regard(evident of his stupid little smirk after seeing Mcdonagh bleeding)
I've seen some pretty heinous comments from Habs fans in regards to Mcdonagh and for some reason Tortarella, in the end I lost all and any respect I had for their fan base and organization, learn to win with class.
All hearings are by phone unless there is a chance that a suspension is for more than six games. If that is the case then a player can request an in-person meeting. The people who participate in the hearing are the player, GM, NHLPA and the players agent.
The incident is discussed the player is allowed to explain his actions. Comments are heard from the player, GM, agent and NHLPA rep.
No decision is made prior to the hearing. He notes that out of 63 hearings last year, 8 led to non-suspensions.
After the hearing ends, the Senior Members of the Department of Player safety decide whether there will be no supplementary discipline or whether they will move forward with a fine or suspension.
This where the NHL gets it wrong again, no regard for the victim, maybe the NHL should ask "how are those head aches today"

And he is a repeat offender...how was this less flagrant than what Hagelin did to Alfredsson? Hags didn't have any history prior to that...left his feet=reckless, head injury, repeat offender, looking for payback...if McDonagh's hit was so bad then why isn't that hit being reviewed? When a player leaves hit feet does the "principle point of contact" mean anything anymore? so a player can now leave his feet and as long as he hits the shoulder first the elbow can then make contact with the head? Carp said it best, 4th line has to made up of thugs taking runs at guys, hey, there is no consequence...and if they are claiming due process then reps from BOTH sides have to be there...ludicrous...the only thing I can possibly surmise as any sort of a silver lining is that McD is actually OK b/c injury supposedly is a factor...which is another inconsitency...

I was just talking to one of the cops I work with, he saw Girardi yesterday at the Ice Vault in Wayne on crutches, needless to say he's out this week. - HankdaTank
I think that all of the Rangers' problems have come full circle. Opponents are no longer scared to play the Rangers because they know that they can take liberties with them. This all goes back to the Rangers' disgraceful power play. If they had even an average power play, teams would instinctively think twice about delivering border-line hits or being overly aggressive.
Who wouldn't play this way against us? Teams basically know that they can be extra aggressive and even if they get called for a penalty, we will not make them pay for it.
Idk about any of you but if the rangers wanna change the way opponents think about them, this is what they have to do in my mind. Send Thomas and Gilroy back to the Whale. There is no point in having Thomas on the roster to have him play on the 4th line. Send Gilroy back because the rangers already have Stralman and DZ on the roster. Call up Haley and Mcilrath. Have Haley on the 4th line. He's shown in his time with the Islanders that he will stick up for his teammates.

How is McIlrath playing down there? All I know that he has played 24 games, is an even plus/minus, and has only one point (not that the Rangers need much of an offensive game from him).
