Jan, I spoke with the guys. We've decided that we're going to give you a pass on this one, and not hold you accountable for leaving us blowing in the wind. Cranny, MM, and some of the other guys were really working you over on the boards, but I stood up for you. I know deep down you are a Devil's fan, and I wasn't about to let these clowns bash you, for observing your holiday.

Torts is an asshat

I concur. I hated him when he was whining and moaning in Tampa, and having him in our division, coaching our principal rival, has done nothing to temper my distaste for his antics.

Rangers have all the pieces. Goaltending, defense, multiple lines, and big time star power. The coaches don't play the games, but if you're the bench boss, with that powder keg of potential and you cant be the spark to ignite it, your ass needs to be replaced.

Here's the trick part of that question though: Who, besides Richards, Gaborik and Nash (of course in his first year under Torts), has ever scored at least 60 points in the NHL under any coach? By my count the answer would be zero. With no previous track record to base an guess on it's hard to determine whether it's the Torts system or the players.

Keep in mind though that Vinny Lecavalier, Marty St. Louis, Dan Boyle, Richards and Cory Stillman, all had at least one season with 60+ points while Torts was coach.

Sure, Torts preaches defense first and creating offense from playing good defense but to say he is solely why players don't score isn't necessarily the case.

I dont put it all on Torts, I put it on the entire coaching staff... however since Torts is the head of the horse, hes going to be the one that takes the brunt of the criticism.

I have a call into the Mounted patrol of le Belle Province, to see when they plan on picking him up on assault charges, but have not heard back yet. I'll keep you all posted.

Kind of like drafting and/or trading for a quality goalie.

If McDo protect himself, there is no problem with that hit. He saw Pacioretty coming all the way but chooses to bend.

Gorges is getting hit like that like 4-5 times each game and doesn't get concussed.

It will be max 1 game, or a fine, or nothing.

Really good blog.

I think there is an enormous difference between the team that Tortarella wants and the team that Sather has offered up. Tortarella wants to role four lines with each line progressively tougher than the last. But, Sather has gone back to his bad old days of believing all you have to do is get the best players.

This team is not a good fit for Tortarella. There is lots of inside Twitter talk about Lindy Ruff being brought in. This would be a gross error. Time for Sather to go.

Last night Don Cherry went offside and said that the Rangers had taken away all of Tortarella's character guys, he said there is no fight (literally) left in the team. Was he channeling Tortarella or just expressing his own point of view. Cherry was a strong booster of last year's team.

If Sather goes a very truculent Brian Burke might make for a perfect marriage.

Ton of roster turnover and no time to gel is a recipe for failed team chemistry.

Wayne, I grew up in NJ about 15 min from the Meadowlands. Became a Rangers fan in 72 Stanley Cup Finals when I was four years old. If you this will make me a Devils fan, you should put down whatever you are smoking. I respect that organization a ton, but bleed Ranger blue.

Trust me, I know the guys on the site, including you, you closet Rangers fan, have my back. Think my track record speaks for itself, but appreciate the help

I think Torts can coach an offensive team as he did in Tampa, but mindset and philosophy for this squad has to change. If he can't change to maximize the talent here, then he will have to go, but there is still a long way to go.

I'm sure you were one of the people outside of the court house in Montreal, calling for charges to be brought up against Chara. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. Patches needs to be investigated, same as Chara.

I hope the rangers meet the habs in the playoffs and either Haley or Asahm just put a forearm shiver to Pacs chin. Eye for an eye.

Nice blog Jan. You make some strong points. I really agree with the toughness part, I couldn't believe nothing happened to Pacioretty. Last year he would have been laid out. They all just stand around, it's maddening. Go run into another team's goalies head and see what happens to them. The Rangers hold Moen's arm and tell back and forth. You're struggling, not scoring, have injuries definitely a tough time but at least play with some heart. I hope they can turn this around soon, there is still time.

Pacioretty leaped into McDonagh; Georges doesn't get his face planted in the glass five times a game.

Can't defend that play, it was dirty.

The dumass almost had his career ended with a vicious hit to the head. Now he's a repeat offender. But let's give him one game. It's exactly whats wrong with the NHL. I guess they will get serious about when someone gets killed.

thanks. Gorges must be the next Doug Harvey. Maybe you should tell everybody in EE's thread. And BTW, the Chara hit on Pacs was clean if the Pacs hit on Mcdonagh was clean.
- tomburton99

McDo should've protect himself. Plain and simple. Stop whinning.
