Idk about any of you but if the rangers wanna change the way opponents think about them, this is what they have to do in my mind. Send Thomas and Gilroy back to the Whale. There is no point in having Thomas on the roster to have him play on the 4th line. Send Gilroy back because the rangers already have Stralman and DZ on the roster. Call up Haley and Mcilrath. Have Haley on the 4th line. He's shown in his time with the Islanders that he will stick up for his teammates.

I would prefer Gilroy over Eminger, I'm down with calling those 2 up, time to start knocking some heads

How is McIlrath playing down there? All I know that he has played 24 games, is an even plus/minus, and has only one point (not that the Rangers need much of an offensive game from him).
- Pete V

He hasn't missed an opportunity to defend a teammate.

9 fighting majors and I believe it was last week that he went after a player for dirty hit, I've never seen an officiating crew anticipate a fight quicker, they immediately had Mcilrath corralled.

Still no Nash. Can't say I like the non-disclosure of injury thing that Torts has got going on this year.

Makes no sense. If Pens can disclose a Malkin injury then anyone should be able to have their injury disclosed.

I just hope he didn't play with a concussion that didn't heal which could help cause a much more serious secondary concussion, notice Marc Staal, Sidney Crosby, Eric Lindros, these guys probably came back out to play after initially getting concussed only to be taken right back out of the line up and then went on to miss long strteches...thats what this reeks of....If they don't want to disclose an injury can't they just rule out the concussion....thats what is making the situtaion worse...

The Rangers say that Kreider and Thomas are skating as extra forwards

Is that good sign for Nash coming back?

I think that all of the Rangers' problems have come full circle. Opponents are no longer scared to play the Rangers because they know that they can take liberties with them. This all goes back to the Rangers' disgraceful power play. If they had even an average power play, teams would instinctively think twice about delivering border-line hits or being overly aggressive.

Who wouldn't play this way against us? Teams basically know that they can be extra aggressive and even if they get called for a penalty, we will not make them pay for it.

SOMEBODY has to fix this power play NOW.

- TheMessiah94

The woes on the PP, while criticized in their own right, are indeed a reason why teams have decided to take those extra liberties. While putting tough players on the ice helps, making a team pay on the score board does more damage. Gotta have a little of both and right now it doesn't seem like they have either.

and...if he does have a concussion he doesn't play without skating on his own and have to be symptom free for "x" amount of time...plus, he has been out now for a week, no matter the injury, its doubtful he would play w/o practicing.

Any word on whether Nash is even at the facility?

I was at the game Saturday night. The Bell Centre is not very impressive until you walk into the actual arena. The site lines are terrific, and the place is worthy of being the showplace for the NHL, although the very attractive female ushers can be a little too, to.

The Rangers actually played a decent 1st period, generating scoring chances and keeping the Habs in check. Of course, they didn't score and with the team's confidence very fragile, that was it. After a series of terrible giveaways by Matt Gilroy the Habs scored the 1st goal of the game, and the rest was downhill.

Listen, after all the talk of the Pacioretty hit and the NHL non justice I would offer this. Settle it on the ice, as they did back in the day. But know this Rangers, the road to Pacioretty goes through Prust and Ryan White. It would be great if they show a little balls, and call up Haley for the next match against the Habs and have at it. Let's stop crying and start showing some guts.

If Torts thinks sitting Gaborik for the entire 3rd period gets him going? Fine, but I doubt it. He's who he is, a goal scorer, and not much else. Stop getting pissed when he doesn't backcheck, it's not what he does, and if you're not going to get him the puck where he can do something with it, buy him out, and go in a different direction, it's same thing he's doing with Kreider. He was flying Saturday night, but he's not accomplishing anything, because he doesn't get the puck in scoring positions. The team's identity is gone. Time for Torts to change His walking across the ice, head down dejected, is the wrong message to send.

I don't think he was viciously attacked by Pacioretty.

Kreider and Thomas are extra forwards, and Bickel and Mashinter are playing, with Powe moving up to the third line. Kreider really can't break the lineup over Bickel or Mashinter. Bickel is terrible, and I can't say that Mashinter has shown much at all. And as far as toughness goes, having scrubs that play 4 minutes a night is not the type of toughness I want.

Really, if Kreider can't play with Nash out, then just send him to Hartford.

the problem is that Nash has a concussion and the let him play two games after the hit.

Torts or anyone else, they do not want to answer the question as to why he was allowed to play those two games, that's the primary reason for not disclosing what is going on with Nash.

especially considering how they handled Marc Staal's concussion, I think they are going to have no comment regarding Nash for as long as they can.

the Whale don't play again until March 1st. So even if Kreider isn't playing, having him practice here is better than there.

Makes sense. Thanks, Jim.

This season is starting to wear on me I'll tell ya. Everything that Torts does annoys me. I just think sometimes he tries to be too smart by half. Is he really expecting the type of game tomorrow night where the Rangers need both Bickel and Mashinter in the lineup over Kreider? Maybe I'm just cranky.

He wants these kids to play consistently but he does not consistently play them. It's mind boggling sometimes thinking about what his rational is.
