as Larry Brooks points out, this team was rebuilt for Rick Nash in the offseason.
Without him, it's really difficult to blame this mediocrity on Torts, and he definitely shouldn't be fired.
If this team was healthy and performing like this, then I can see blaming the coach.

2 points tonight will begin the healing.
The next 4 are at home so hopefully we can get on a roll. Then at the Moz for a usual doozy w the Isles, so its kinda like the next 5 are at home. |

I tell you right now, if Chris Kreider wants to play, he needs to shoot the frigging puck.
I didn't realize it until checked this morning. He has played 10 games, 5 shots on goal.
FIVE.
C'mon, what happened to that kid who took the puck in the playoffs and just blasted past Holtby? |

I agree with that. I also think, however, that he needs to loosen up a little. Much like Tom Coughlin supposedly did. If he could never use the words "process" and "right way" again that would be good to. Only because I am sick of hearing him say those things. I am sure he will understand and stop saying them. |

Awesome hockey. Claude Le-douche sent Kris Draper into the glass partition & gave him a wicked scaaar for the rest of his life. Nasty!
And yea, Detroit used to get killed for flaming out every playoffs until they brought in Shanahan, that helped them finally get over the top. - B2B76
Didn't Darren Mccartty beat the piss out of Lemeuix after he did that? |

He needs to use his speed and size to get on the forecheck and punish defenders. If he does those things, I think he will creat some better shooting opportunities. Torts is right, he really should watch Carl Hagelin, because he has Hagelin type speed, and he should use it in the same way. |

It was the next year in a regular season game. Lemieux turtled, while McCarty pounded on him. Also, a goalie fight in that same game. |

I hear ya...just a product of a lack of confidence, don't forget the snipe he had vs NJ... |

Erik Christensen could snipe as well. Just not often enough. Actually right now, that is who Kreider reminds me of. |

I think we just need to be more patient with this kid, the one gift he and Hags has is their skating ability, Hags has already learned how to use it, Kreider will figure it out... |

No way not even close, that's a disservice to Kreider |

And " we'll be ready to play " That one kills me...because it means they're not. Happened in alot of playoff games last year. After he says it the other team would spend the first two minutes of the game passing the puck around the Rangers zone. That's not being ready to play. |

Kreider's play is a disservice to himself. Start banging and playing with a little snarl with his size. Right now he's a ghost on the ice, and the comparison is 100% apt. 5 shots in 10 games. |
