For something completely off topic, I like these lines! And it looks like Kipper will be in the Line-up; the only goalies practicing right now are Kipper and MacD.
So when Backlund comes back can we kiss the (frank) goodbye to Comeau? - The-O-G
I was just contemplating that. I'm not sure what they will do! We seem to be Left-Wing heavy, maybe the probable trade is going to be GlennX or Backlund for a prospect (centre) and a 3rd round draft pic?

I'd be pretty pissed if either of those guys are the ones shipped out.

Why trade Backlund, a center, for a prospect center?
Also, given his favourable contract, they should probably keep GlenX and move someone like Cammi. I read something yesterday that St Louis feels they are missing a play maker. Would they be interested in Tanguay? Not that I would like to move him, but we need to change things up at some point. If the price was right I would move him but I would rather move Cammi's 6mil 1st; no offence to Cammi.

Who on the left would you ship out if you had to pick one? Also, seems like we need to trade a Goalie away pretty soon.
I'm thinking about this too much, i'm going for lunch.

don't forget fleury and letang (who's gonna get a BIG raise)
but be careful, i guess using math logically somehow makes you a hater in this guys' view - sensarmy_11
Letang should get a nice bump. But chiclets should be taking a pay cut. Kid has been overrated since he came into the league. Far to inconsistent. I was happy they snagged Vokun.

You guys are gonna need some salary to stay in the cap. Sounds like your whole team is gonna get moved.

If we trade for, or sign a FA in the summer, a center like Weiss, Statsny or god willing, Getzlaf we look a LOT more balanced IMO. - TandA4Flames
I dont see trading Tanguay. He knows Hartley well, his salary is reasonable & would make an excellent tutor for some young up & coming players. Cammi, would be nice, will probably need to eat some salary to improve the return. If return is crappy, we may have to keep him. GlenX would probably get a Gaustad type of return of a 1st at the trade deadline. Stemper & one of Gio or JBO could be at play. Personally I'd move JBO because the more cap we send out the more of a player we can be for overpaying the right UFA or finesse a great prospect/pick to give cap relief to someone maxed out after going for it this year. Will be interesting to see if Cerevenka resigns & for how much as he really hasnt earned a 4.0mill deal from his play this year.

If the Flames finally decide to pull the trigger on an Iginla trade the cost will be high, they cant afford to "lose" the deal in public perception. For this reason I would pass on Iginla from the Penguins standpoint.
Iginla would be a luxury item. One that would cost some serious assets. The Penguins lead the NHL in goals for, how much more scoring does one team need?
The Penguins have a use for a top quality third line player more than they do Iginla. Tyler Kennedy has regressed this year for whatever reason and the Pens could use a boost in his usual spot in the lineup.
Furthermore with Letang's contract situation still up in the air I would feel uncomfortable trading high end defense prospects for a potential luxury rental.
Iginla would be great with Crosby, there isn't any doubting that, but the Penguins have other needs.

Ya, like a goalie who can steal games. I think Kipper will help you.

K, just looked up Ramo, and the KHL. Avangard Omsk is in the semi finals, and it looks like they are doing well. If they go to the final, can Ramo play for Calgary? or it it too late?

I don't disagree, although I was responding to the "which LW would I move? question. If Flames management/ownership can look past this season with a plan, I would move Iggy, Cammi, JBo, possibly Kipper and some of the support/riff raff. For the right price I would move guys like Stempniak even though I think he is a really good 3rd liner that can move up the line up when needed. Offer over payments to Perry and Getzlaf or Weiss (Perry max term @ $8mil...ish, Weiss @maybe 4-5 yrs at 6.5ish- mmmmm might be high...); hopefully Iggy wins it all and we resign him at 5-5.5mil; re-up Backs and Cervs @ 3mil a piece
Our top 9 looks like:
Baertschi- Weiss- Perry
Tanguay- Backlund- Iginla
GlenX- Cervenka- Hudler
This for around 37.5mil; we could even give more to Iggy or whoever. The D would need a replacement in the top 4 with JBo moving on. Maybe Wotherspoon impresses at camp or we trade for a young NHL ready Dman.

So to clear it up...he's not under contract, but the Flames own his rights. So he would not have to clear waivers?

Weiss @ 6.5M... 5M per maybe. I still think he a great 2nd line centre. Not a #1 IMO.

One dimensional? Which way? Ive seen him play a lot with the knights and he is really, really solid. His defense is amazing and his offense is underrated as Hunter likes to use his d more for shutdown than offense. He doesnt get a crazy amount of pp time. Hes the real deal. - pbrsimps
On the D zone, he does have some upside on offense for sure don't get me wrong. If they got him I wouldn't cry about it.
