We should be sellers - VANTEL
And bring up our rich farm talent? Selling now would only get us a slightly better draft position. |

Thing is that the trade deadline is in roughly 2 weeks. We'll still be in the running for the NW division by then so in that regard nothing will have changed by then that isn't true right now. From where I'm sitting ,our only realistic trade avenue that could net us a decent player to help now would be Schneider - AlexF
Totally agree. |

This team will be lucky to make the playoffs, they don't have "it" this year. Id love to see them in the off season trade away some bad contracts or buy them out and find or create competition for the openings that would become available on the roster. If Booth goes, let Jensen/Schroeder/Gaunce slug it out in camp for a 2/3 line wing spot. If Ballard goes, let Corrado and Conaughton play it out in camp for the 6th D spot. Young guys will create more inner competition and energy, not overpaid guys that play because of the contract despite not pulling there weight. As long as this team doesn't trade away prospects to get better short term i'm ok with that. Keep signing college UFA's too. - gunner2233
Connauton barely belongs in the AHL. No way he makes the team. Andersson, Price, Corrado, Polasek, and Tommernes are all ahead of him on the depth chart now, maybe even McEneny.
Only way he becomes an NHL player is if they shift him to wing. |

True, this team won't flat out suck with guys like the Sedins, good goalies, and AV's defensive system actually works(to an extent) with a scrub lineup. Anyone hoping for a lottery pick needs to stop dreaming. |

The wild score there third goal And AV comes out with Lappiere and Weise next shift. This guy seriously needs to go. What a fukking joke. - vancity787
I did note that to my buddy while watching the game. That was fukin' weird. |

Can't argue that right now, but I'm just talking about unloading the bad contracts if they can plus the expiring contracts. Teams get crazy at the deadline since there's only usually only about 5 or 6 legit sellers and 15 buyers so it's a seller's market. Paul Guastad got a first rounder last year, I could see a contending team paying a nice price to acquire a guy like Raymond. I don't see Gillis selling though and as bad as the Canucks are playing, theys till have a legit shot at the division since Minny isn't exactly an elite team. - Nucker101
I think we have 4 wins in the last 15 games?? I don't see how we can be viewed as favorite even if we do win the horrible division?
If we could get a 2 nd rounder for players like Raymond Higgins and pick up a first rounder and a top prospect for one of our top 4 Dmen |

Take a guess. I guess we did win in a way since AV is one step closer to getting canned. |

Definitely not a favourite, but if you were Gillis would you risk your job by telling the owner that we're going to tank because I couldn't spend the 70 million plus you have me wisely? I don't think that Aquilini and Gillis are as cool with that idea as the fans are. Hell, look at Calgary's owners, they've sucked for years and their ownership still wants to try to win now to sneak into the playoffs to get that extra cash. At the end of the day this is a business, as much as owners wanna win they're also greedy mother (frank)ers. |

With essentially the entire league within 5 points of the playoffs, this would be the year to be a seller. Anything that leads to gutting the coaching staff that has been put off since the failed finals run is OK with me. |

Doesn't matter who starts at this point anyways, this team can't score right now. |

Question for everyone: Gillis fires AV now or in the near future. Who do you replace him with? |

First of all I think Aquilini has a tv and can see what is going on . I think Gillis's job is on the line anyways. He should have fired AV last summer and made one or two significant trades and waited too long . I think Gillis's leash is getting shorter by the day and Gilman can step in any time to replace his boss.

Maybe Mac-T?
He was great with the prospects on the Wolves last year....but yeah, not a lot of options. |

The Sedins game is declining and Kesler Booth are becoming the new Salo (LTIR) , I can see why we can't score . |

He might have a TV, but again he wants that playoff revenue, even if it's only one short series, that's a lot of dough for him. I'm not arguing that we shouldn't be sellers, I'm saying that it's very unlikely to happen even if Aquilini is open to it, Gillis won't risk his high paying job by missing the playoffs. You said it yourself, his leash is getting shorter and shorter, and he's been calling teams everyday so clearly he's not selling right now. |

I want Cooper from Norfolk, he's improved every team that he's coached year to year and developed lots of players. A guy that know how to win and develop players? Sign me up! |

I honestly don't think it is that much.
There putting up similar numbers as last year while getting far more attention (and way more physical abuse this year) from shutdown D pairs, since the Canucks really don't have any other offensive threats... |

Meh, they're still PPG players. It's just a perception since the Canucks need them to score more than once per game these days now. I don't see the decline at all right now, the 100 point seasons will obviously be their peek but their still top line players and elite scorers. Secondary scoring, management and coaching are the problems. |

Not my first choice, but better than Ruff, and most of the other available coaches.

Not super familiar with him.
I really liked the way Mac-T handled the prospects. He demanded accountability and defensively responsible play, and it showed in many of the prospects improving their defensive game while he was there, yet they actually liked playing for the guy. |

You do realize assists count as points, too, right?
They are both nearly a point/game, and they've always been players that will have a stretch where they go a bit quite, and then pick up their points in bunches.
Been that way for years. |
