I'm not sure what hits you were watching, but those were in no way identical.
I was at the leaf game that night and right away I said Lupul will get suspended for that hit. Hedman was standing straight up and for a pretty tall guy he still took a shoulder to the chin.
As much as I agree that the league has been inconsistent, I really didn't see Nash's hit being that bad.
People see a helmet fall off and think a hit is worse than it is. Did he make contact with his head, yes, but not until after he had made principal contact to his upper back. - itsalwaysfunny
Did his feet leave the ice yes |

Dude, he left his feet - raised his arms and made contact was to the back of the head. Clearly suspension worthy. |

He wasn't really an upgrade where the Canucks need. They have plenty of 4th line players, they need a 2nd line player (or two), which won't come off the waiver wire. |

Watch the hit again, he clearly hits him in the upper back, and his arms ride up and then make contact with the head.
He did not TARGET his head. I'm not saying it was a clean play, but it also is not on the same level as the Lupul hit. The refs didn't even give a penalty on the play. |

I don't care either way, but I watched that replay a few times and it looks to me like Nash's elbow caught Kopecky in the back of the head simultaneously. I could be wrong, but that was how it looked to me. |

So leaving your feet is now the basis for suspendable hits. I see. |

How can you argue with this logic
Leaving feet to check . Yes suspendable . It is also called Launching |

I don't really care either.
But let's be real, if this was a hit made by Henrik Sedin you would be crying if they deemed that a suspension.

The explanation on the Lucic hit is even more sickening. |

Good thing you aren't in charge of discipline then.
Just because a guy leaves his feet does not make a play a suspendable hit. It may be one thing they take into account but that single act does not warrant a suspension on it's own. |
