Mark Letetsu and Dubinsky for Ballard, Higgins and a 3rd. Thoughts?
- Bieksa#3

What's the benefit for CBJ - why would they make that deal? Granted they have a number of guys that play C, but that's two guys out of their top 6 for a third line LW (which they have already) and an expensive defender that may or may not fit in their top 4. If they are making a trade I think they want a more prolific scorer coming back. Dubinsky still has two more years on his deal, and Letestu, while being an UFA next season, is playing for league min.

Stafford a healthy scratch
Come on Gilles. Booth, Ballard and a 2nd for Stafford and Pardy(2 mill cap hit who is currently in the AHL) or Sekera

- Bieksa#3

Can't trade Booth until he is medically cleared, so not until next season...

Dubinsky is fringe if top 6 at this point. I was thinking Ballard and Higgins for Dubinsky. Both Ballard and Dubby are way overpaid. Higgins replaces dubinsky offensively

On to the LA game tonight, while they are only 6-4 in their last 10, LA has only lost 3 games in regulation at home this year. They also have the 10th ranked PP and 15th ranked PK. They also have a positive goal differential of +13 compared to the Canucks at even (83 goals for and against). If I was putting money on the game I would pick LA, 2-1 in regulation, goals by Carter and Stoll, Hansen for the Canucks.

I'm looking for the official rule, but I believe that a player that is placed on injured reserve can not be moved in any regard until he is cleared and fit for a return. Since Booth underwent season ending surgery yesterday, I doubt he can be involved in any transaction until he resumes skating. There have been trades in the past that were cancelled (reversed) because once the player arrived at the new team it was discovered that he was in fact injured and unable to play (again, I'm looking for a reference).

Letestu is their 3rd or 4th leading scorer at $625k... I just don't see them being interested in adding salary (Higgins+Ballard > Dubinsky+Letestu) with the same term and Higgins being an UFA at the end of the season.

Just reminding so nobody misses it - should be a good one. Let's see how much whining and diving Doughty and Brown do.

Yeah, because Buffalo's healthy scratches are going to take us to the promise land. But yeah, Booth+ for Stafford would have been intriguing if Booth didn't get injured again. At this point, I doubt that Booth has any trade value when he's healthy again. Looks like Tallon won that trade by getting rid of his contract. I don't blame Gillis though, I think most of us that it was a solid move at the time. And even I had hope for Booth entering this season.

I figured this was going to be the HNIC game.

CBC must have fought hard for that Oilers/Blues game.

Dubinsky is starting to look like one of those players thats living off of past production, especially playing in a low attention makret like Clombus. I saw a Tweet the other day that he has something like 12-15 goals in his last 100+ games. But to be fair, his shooting percentages could be a bit higher, and he's usually playing against other top lines but that production scares me for a 4 million dollar plus player. IMO the Canucks need to stop picking up expensive players who aren't producing on mediocre/bad teams. Seems like those kinds of trades rarely work out for the good team, while the team unloading the contract usually ends up looking like the winner. Rental players for depth are fine, but trying to add core players with big contracts that have been on mediocre/losing teams for awhile just doesn't sound good to me.
