Walker isn't even on the team! They signed Foster due to inury. And Gervais is a 6/7 defenseman. Do you even know what they're paying Foster and Gervais? - MJL
Walker isn't on the team? When did that happen?
Foster .950k
Gervais .825k
1.775 for the two. If walker wasn't hurt it would be another 1.7. 3.4 total for the 3. |

Insane to pay purray 2.2 million to play, but not insane to pay Walker 1.7 and gervais and gus as well to do what little they do? - Flyersgod
And you're the one that brings up strawman arguments? You're a waste of time, man. The idiot Pens trolls that repeat 1975 are more worthy of conversation than you.

I understand.. but I am saying that the best TEAM right now is the Pens.. and adding a few TEAM players... one world class, and the other the gritty do it all type you need... only helps. - jak521
What MJL is really saying, is that Bostons SYSTEM makes them competitive with the Pens.
Funny how Systems crept back on here. |

Depends on what they wind up doing with the 2nd round pick.
I'm not a murray fan. Just pointing out that we have to give up our first born sons to get average players. - Flyersgod
I will say this if they dont win it this year it will be a setback to that team, cause chances are iggy and murray arent going back with the contracts of Letang and Malkin coming up that team is going to be cap strap soon so these guys are the classic definition of the term "rental players" |

Foster and Gervais are fringe NHL players at best. They certainly aren't regulars on a good team. Flyers are an awful team, it's acceptable for them to play. - PLindbergh31
I agree, they are fringe players. But I'm amazed every day when I read all the complaints about Gervais. You take a depth defenseman, who has limitations to his game to start with. And you play him on a team that is horrendous as a team defensively. And then wonder why he get's exposed? Much better defenseman then Gervais, look lost out there on this team at times!
And if I'm not mistaken, and please correct me if I'm wrong. But you suggested many times that the Flyers take a chance with Foster. Now that he's here, it's all complaints.
Gervais was brought in because there weren't a lot of options. And on a team that plays well defensively, and has a good team game. He'd be fine as a part time 6/7 depth defenseman. |

He's saying they are capable for now. It's doubtful either of them will be contributors to the Flyers next season. There is no point in giving away assets for the remaining games this season. - KGBflyers10
Fair enough. Would you have thought about it earlier in the season?

And if they do win, then what? The Pens trading a first round pick which will be at the very end of the round isn't a big deal. The prospects they gave up by all accounts are fringe type players. |

You would make Mike Milbury look like the greatest GM ever in the game with these posts. - KGBflyers10
No. Absolutely, they need another stay at home defenseman that blows positioning to make hits, has subpar puck skills and skates like he's stuck in the mud.
He'd be a PERFECT fit to the needs they have. |

No. There are many problems the Flyers have--from top to bottom--getting Douglas Murray and Jerome Iginla would not be the answer, and frankly, would probably be more detrimental. |

I didn't have an issue with signing Foster. When he's played he hasn't been any worse than Coburn has. |

I gave the system talk a pass early in the year, because the execution was horrible the first few games, and it was obvious that there was a lot of rust. But after awhile, it became very obvious that the team lacked discipline and needed the coaching staff to make adjustments. They made subtle changes, but they had little effect.
My issues with Laviolette are well documented here. - Jsaquella
What do you think about Myers from Buffalo? You think he can be had by the flyers?
do you think a couturier for myers deal can be done?
weird had a dream last night that the flyers got the third overall pick and also traded for myers |

Short sweet and to the point Bill... Yeah not sure I want to predict anything tonight. They enjoy pounding on the Islanders but with our recent play I don't know who shows up. And with our defense looking like fishnet thigh highs I'm not sure how we are going to do tonight... - FlyersGrace
They'll do just fine since the goal is now a high draft pick No need to rush Grossmann back but given Briere's lost scoring touch and inability to play D, they might want to get him back on the ice ASAP. |

Not really a huge set back. They can't afford to draft superstars at this point with all the huge contracts they have.
There wasn't a point in trading for iggy and morrow, but I would have understood Murray. To test out if he would be a fit for next year instead of signing people they don't know will fit or not. |

The only deal they made that is a bit of an overpayment is the Murray trade. That's a lot to give up for a guy that is going to be a third pair guy in Pittsburgh. However, unlike the Flyers, the Pens could use a bigger stay at home type.
But when the best guy you trade away is a kid at a position you have depth at, and add the kind of character guys that they did, it's a good thing for their team. |

And pay him 2M a year, with the Flyers having 3M available in cap space right now for next year. But he's advocating firing Holmgren. |
