They had rough years, some vets had rough years, the coach didn't come up with any effective adjustments, they jumped and signed Foster instead of a guy like Wade Redden at least has mobility and experience as a top defenseman.
- Jsaquella

If everything was clicking and courtier And Schenn had bad years I'd be more concerned, but this year was a mess all around. Drop the dead weight and push forward with this young core unless you can get an impact defenseman

Him and Coburn have been awful this year, but at least they haven't got injured. They'll be logging plenty of minutes next season, too.
- Feanor

Gervais better be playing all his games in Adirondack next year.

There were four teams he'd accept. So it was the best offer from among the four teams.
- bodiva88

Actually, Calgary accepted Boston's offer and Iginla refused to go to the Bruins.

It would be nice to have the Pens problems. They are stacked in the farm team.

The biggest factor that made the penguins trades possible isn't the picks, it's the quality youth in the farm system.

The Penguins have a alot of quality young defensemen (unlike the flyers) that they could afford to trade a top defensive prospect (1st round pick). Can you imagine the day where the flyers could afford to trade a top defensive prospect and have it not affect the depth of the farm team, let alone the big club?

Having a quality farm system, something the Flyers have neglected, is essential to maintaining success and keeping the cost of trade deadline deals down. The Penguins really didn't give up that much, draft pick wise for what they are receiving.

Joe Morrow would be the #1 prospect in the entire flyers org. For the Penguins, because of their depth, he was a bargainning chip they could afford to part with.

Even after trading away players the Pens farm team is miles ahead of the Flyers. That is something the Flyers have needed to address for years. Unfortunately being "all in" every year and making sure every asset is either on the big club or traded away has put them in this position.

To stay on top for years the Flyers need a steady pipeline. Something they don't have.

Yeas, but according to MJL you should only expect to get one true prospect per draft

I am downloading their newest album today on your recommendation!
- Hextall271

The new Van Halen album is pretty damn good. The only song that really blows is "Tattoo", why they released that piece of dog poo as their 1st single is beyond me!

It really was, just a Murphy's law sort of thing. Even now, at the TDL, you got potential trade assets hurting and likely not being moveable.

It's an earworm, the label probably figured that it would attract more non VH fans than Outta Space, which is the song I would have chosen as 1st singe.

Eh, I may go tonight with a friend who has an extra ticket and I'm taking my kid on Saturday.

It's still hockey and it's still a day or night out.

Sugar, Starch, Grease, Fat and Alcohol.

93.3 WMMR used to put out a cookbook. They'd get the DJ's and various music acts to submit recipes for it. Dave's recipe was to go to McDonald's and get a couple cheeseburgers.

- Jsaquella

Haha...yeah I just googled it. I was remembering the MMR interview with DeBella, which was hysterical. But I had totally forgotten about the cookbook until you mentioned it. Thanks radio was fun back then.

The reason the Flyers beat them is they got in their heads and got them off their game. They had Crosby knocking guys gloves away and Neal and Malkin taking suspendable runs at guys.

If they stay disciplined and don't get to running around, they win the Stanley Cup.

- Jsaquella

Probably, though I still think their D could be their Achilles heel. If Letang goes down and misses significant time in the playoffs, they could be upset.

Radio was also relevant back then.

I remember going actually going to a "Louie Louie" parade that 'MMR threw back in the day. Good times.

That or Fleury falling apart. But they're deep as Hell up front, and Crosby seems to be on a mission this year.

Wow, that blueline for tonight's game is enough to put the fear of God in to even the most stalwart of Flyers faithful.

Imagine if they had traded Coburn for picks already.

Lots of work in store for Homer this offseason.

- MBFlyerfan

I'd seriously start Leighton tonight. I want Mackinnon Drouin or Jones.
