Bryz really needs to work on when he has a shooter 1 on 1. I don't think he moved on any of the shots. Of the 2 that didn't go in, 1 missed a wide open net and the other hit Bryz without him moving.

Simmonds may have surpassed Hartnell for worst shootout move ever.

I only saw the 2nd half of the game. But Luke Schenn struggled tonight. Especially in the 3rd period.

Gervais picked up the slack. He was rock solid tonight.

I thought he looked pretty solid during the game- terrible penalty aside (if that is possible).

Went with a couple head fakes. I think he learned them bowling with Bynum.

I should add that kudos to the players tonight. They for the most played a solid game. 2 crazy bounce shots hurt them.

The entire 3rd period was pretty much played in the Flyers end of the ice. Spend that much time defending, increases the odds of a crazy bounce.

They need to stop rushing their youngsters just to keep the fan base and bottom line happy and try to win every year. They're misusing their resources if they're not going to allow their drafted players to grow in time.

I agree 100%. I love the young core forwards on this squad. Laughton will be a nice addition next year as well. Just need to build that blueline to be were it needs to be when the young forwards get there.

At this point it's mathematically very difficult especially with a wounded D corp.

No, but it not wrong to hope your team gets better over time even if that means it gets bad for a little while...I dont wish they lose it just doesnt bother me as much as previous years
- nonpoint22

I had lowered expectations coming into this year with the loss of Jagr and Carle without adequate replacement - and still none for Pronger. Being a shortened year with a dreadful schedule to start it, I wasn't any more optimistic than say, 2007-08. More so than 2006-07, though, after that preseason's clown show.

Nothing wrong with getting worse because players leave, retire, and other roster attrition. That happens. But to get worse by purposely throwing games? Unconscionable.

Did you see Nabokov mock him just a bit by mock-flinching when he stood up after the save.

I actually thought Simmonds sprained his own knee on that deke watching it live. I'm glad he is okay.

How about hoping they give a good effort (and not tank) but lose anyway? Is that permissible?

Flyers have sort of done it. Timonen and Hartnell. Pronger extended, etc.

Whatever floats your Flyers boat.

I felt we got that a lot of nights in 2006-07. Effort was often there, but there were just dreadful roster signings going into that season.

Thankfully, Homer turned that around in short order and kept the right players while adding Timonen, Hartnell, and Briere in the summer.

have to have the effort which I think they had tonight. Honestly, need Gagne, Knuble, Feds... and all players on the block to kick ass to maximize their return.

No kidding. It can be done, still, it just takes more finesse and better spending. In a cap world, it's not that teams will have no holes; they just try to have the least amount of holes - and those of the least-glaring kind. Then, you try to coach a system that shields said weaknesses and plays to the strengths of the roster.
