have to have the effort which I think they had tonight. Honestly, need Gagne, Knuble, Feds... and all players on the block to kick ass to maximize their return.

I hope you're not expecting to get much for those players?

At least two second rounders. That was the price on that stiff Murray that the Sharks got rid of.

I sense the sarcasm here is due to the 2Real scouting report.

No kidding. It can be done, still, it just takes more finesse and better spending. In a cap world, it's not that teams will have no holes; they just try to have the least amount of holes - and those of the least-glaring kind. Then, you try to coach a system that shields said weaknesses and plays to the strengths of the roster.

The recent cup winning teams have a Norris caliber defenseman. Unless you have Crosby and Malkin. Good luck trading for one

Even if they draft Jones AND he is Norris-caliber, he's not winning one for at least 3 - 5 years. So, I guess we're still up for 3 more years of whining and not enjoying the team that represents our town.

Not at all. The Sharks blog said that Murray had been their worst dman for the last 2 years. All the reports are that he has lost a few steps.

It's not about being right, it's about female doging and getting an audience.

Nope. I'd take what I could get. Flyers thought a 3rd rounder was ok for Gagne so would a late 4th or 5th be too much?

You better believe it is. I just saw a Biography on Jaws. A behind the scenes look at how the movie was made. Fascinating stuff. Movie was so late finishing shooting and was so far over budget it came close to not being completed.

Couple of quick notes. The scenes in the movies with the yellow barrels, was something Spielberg came up with due to the electrical shark not working. Also the scene were Hooper recovers the sharks tooth from the hull of Ben Gardner's boat, was filmed at the bottom of Spielberg's pool, after the movie wrapped and was added during editing to get an extra scream from the audience.

- PLindbergh31

Hey, a good friend of mine starred as Spielberg in a movie that kind of parodied the making of Jaws...it's called "Courage and Stupidity". That wasn't the one you just saw was it?

I had lowered expectations coming into this year with the loss of Jagr and Carle without adequate replacement - and still none for Pronger. Being a shortened year with a dreadful schedule to start it, I wasn't any more optimistic than say, 2007-08. More so than 2006-07, though, after that preseason's clown show.

Nothing wrong with getting worse because players leave, retire, and other roster attrition. That happens. But to get worse by purposely throwing games? Unconscionable.

Again, your like a politician, I NEVER SAID THEY SHOULD TANK, I am just seeing the positive in what is a negative season. They lose they get a better chance at a really good draft pick, they win then they win thats it

No. This was on the Biography Channel. Was a two hour doc on the making of the film. Wasn't a parody.

It's not a small point to maximize every deal you can. RAJ drives me nuts with adding a prospect to tip the deal. After 3 or 4 deals that hurts an organization. Homer did it with the Kubina deal. Oh, we have extra picks so here's another pick for a piece of garbage. Extra picks can be used in other deals or combined to move up.

Yeah but if he grows with this young core and if they bring up a manning and let these guys get some experience maybe we hit a window where everyone is still in there "prime"

It's a start. Now, post that again every other page of every Bill Meltzer thread for the next three years. Should Gervais get hurt, be sure to lay into Gustafsson, Lilja, or some other defenseman not named Timonen.

You're correct about that. But Knuble was waived in the past few weeks. Nobody was interested. You think now you're going to get a draft pick for him? Fedetenko isn't going to get much. Gagne might get something decent. But those hoping to receive considerable assets for these players is going to be disappointed.

If you've read my posts of the last few weeks, I've been saying similar things. I just want them giving their best effort night in and night out. Your earlier post seemed to denote your approval of tanking.

Apologies if I inferred what you did not imply.
