Poulin would be in my top five, but my choices would be Jim Nill(Detroit Asst GM), Paul Fenton(Nashville Asst GM) or Rick Dudley(with the Leafs, not sure of title). The key is, does ownership leave him alone or do we get Snider proclaiming in the newspaper that the GM must acquire this or that. - Jsaquella
He left the Leafs last summer to take the Assistant GM title with the Habs. |

Can't see how he wouldn't. He's spent a lot of years coaching and now in the front office, I have to think running his own team must be his goal. - BiggE
One would think, yes. |

You have a good feel for prospects. If the Flyers were in the trade for Iginla mix. And they offered Laughton, Ghostibhere, and a 1st. Would that beat the Pens offer? - MJL
i would have been bummed to lose all that for a rental unless it actually resulted in a cup

Pittsburgh is the prohibitive favorite, no doubt. But to say it's not close, simply isn't true. When you play the team game that Boston plays, you have a very good chance. The best team wins, not the best collection of players. The Flyers are a perfect example of that. They have a lot more talent then a bunch of teams ahead of them in the standings.
Last year, who would've picked the Kings and Devils in the Finals? Did the Devils have the best roster? It's about who is playing the best, and who gets' hot. As we saw last year, A Goalie can get on a roll, and lift a team. - MJL
I'm going to agree with you by going the other way on this: a goalie (Fleury) can go into the toilet, and flush a team. |

It would beat it like Mike Tyson beat Michael Spinks.
Two unsigned NCAA guys. Agostino isn't a bad prospect, but he's a third liner at best. Pesky guy, pain in the ass. Kind of like Cousins, but no where near as highly regarded.
The other kid is kind of like Tye McGinn from the scant info I have seen on him. Would have to be a situational top 6 guy, because he's not suited for a defensive line role.
IMO, they'll likely get a better player with the pick |

No question about it. That's why handing a team the Cup right now, because they made a few trades, isn't a good idea. We saw how Fleury played last year against the Flyers in round 1. |

I saw some clips of that fight a few years ago - best part about it was interviews before the bout with "Hollywood celebrities" who carefully explained why Spinks was going to pummel Tyson.
Oh, Lordie Lordie, when he was on top, he was fun to watch. |

Exactly. So saying that the Flyers don't have the assets to make a trade for a player like Iginla, that's been posted earlier, isn't the case. |

He was a machine. I remember SI did a 15 page article on it, they had it going 8 rounds and said that Spinks would dance and make Tyson work...I couldn't eat a Chicken McNugget in the amount of time it took Tyson to kill Spinks. |

No doubt, at least he truly cares which is more than I can say about many owners of pro sports teams. I just wish he would stay out of the decision making process completely and let his managers manage. When asked about what direction the team should go, I wish he would just say something like "That's up to Paul and his staff, I try to stay out of those discussions."
Do you really think Bryz would be here, especially with the deal he got, if Snider had not all but put a gun to Holmgrens head to go out and get him? |

Pens get: Iggy, Murray, and Morrow AND a 3rd rd pick
Pens lose: late 1st round pick, 2 unsigned nobody's, Joe Morrow and a fifth rd pick, 2nd rd pick in 2013 and possible 2nd/3rd rd pick in 2014.
That's pretty amazing considering what we have to give up to get anything. Why was Murray not on our radar?
While I realize how much cap room those guys are eating up and what a waste it would have been for us to trade for them, i'm still shocked that other teams are able to do what they do without trading any talent.
I'm on the ban wagon to fire Homer now. |

No, Bryz wouldn't be here, at least not under the contract he has now.
But his passion has allowed the Flyers to spend the cash to be successful or at least there's never been a case of ownership saying a guy is too expensive. |

You're on the bandwagon to fire Holmgren because of deals the Pens made? Why would Murray be on the Flyers radar?

There would be no point in making any of these deals. It would be like throwing the baby out with the bathwater from the Flyers standpoint.

Murray wasn't on their radar because they have 4 guys that do what he does. He's a stay at home defenseman, who is questionable positionally, has few puck skills and has been terrible this year for San Jose.
