Ideal situation would be for Oilers to finish 14th worst in the league, 1 point out of a playoff spot and let Tambi's troll grin win us another lotto. |

"Either win or lose, boys. What you're doing now is not acceptable anymore"
What do you mean anymore? They've had three first overall picks in a row. They haven't been doing "this" middle game at all. |

Disagree. Aside from a generational talent in Crosby. What is laughable is the comparison of veterans that the team has surrounded them with.
Hemsky, Smyth, Horcoff, Belanger or Hossa, Gill, Roberts, Sykora, Gonchar, Recchi, LeClair - Gunslinger
Malkin? Staal? Fleury? all in the years preceding Crosby? |

Fixed.
For what its worth the Pens did try. They had no money so they couldn't sign anybody. They only drafted 1st overall once(twice if you count them trading up to take MAF)
Tamby has put himself into quite a situation. With Yaks and RNH going to get in the area of 6 mill just like Hall and Eberle. And Gagner and Schultz getting around 5, the Oilers have no wiggle room to go after a high profile FA to help them out. The cap is going no where for a couple yrs due to buyouts being part of the players share - Bieksa#3
Why don't you just worry about the Nucks and how the hell they deal with their situation. They are in the worst position in the league cap wise. |

No, you definetly do not lose these games on purpose. What kind of message does this send to the players? It is much better for their development to get close to the playoffs and see a lot of improvement from last season. It gives them the optimism for next season where they say to themselves, "We're a year older, more experienced, w can do this!"
Also, this is a draft that you can still get some good players at the 10-14 range. In edmonton's case dman like nurse and zadorov would really benefit you guys, even if its in a couple years, and not next year.
Lastly Clouts, I don't get why you are obsessed with Lazar. He is more of a 15-20. Also elias lindholm will definetly not be still around by then. |

Sighh...
Can we please get Cloutier fired already. This is getting really tiresome.
The guy clearly doesn't know a god damn thing about hockey. Thinks he knows more than Oilers management. What a fool.
Ristolainen going 4th....
So you think Button has him ranked low??? Well ISS, you know the organisation that has hundreds of scouts that actually do it for a living, has him ranked 10th. Behind Nurse, Zadorov for other Dmen.
I'm sick of your bullpoop blogs. I've had enough.

I see the Oilers coming in 9th. Clouts said it himself you have to go something like 8-2. That's not easy.
Another thing, Clouts, why do you want another forward? Do really think that J Schultz and Smid solidify your defense? I would say get the best dman available. And build your backend. |

This franchise is a joke - ernmerica
Really? If one franchise should shut up about tanking, its the Penguins. Mario and Sid were both drafted first overall. Didn't they changed the draft rules because of the way the Penguins tanked to draft Mario?
Just because some idiot fan that blogs on a fan website says something, doesn't mean it really is or will happen. |

Richard Cloutier: Should the Oilers Intentionally Lose? - Maxbone
Without reading the blog, the title alone inspires a "WHAT? WHY? GOD NO."
I heard enough LA fans yesterday beakin' in my ear and screamin through the crowd:
"How many first overall picks do these losers need?"
The tank psychosis is over, gone, six feet down the bar, fukk off. |

Oilers fans and posters on this site should tank the rest of this season so you can draft a better blogger.
You guys and this team deserve better than this bi-polar, bandwagon blogger.
Win 3 games......oilers are cup contenders
Lose 2 games.......tank for draft picks

When is the BETTER BLOGGER DRAFT taking place. - itsalwaysfunny
Not sure if the oilers are a sure shot for 1st overall in that draft. Buffalo and Los Angeles would be right there.
And the Jets would pick last yr in yr out as Tessier is the best and most fair blogger on this site |

I hope the Oilers have respect for the game of hockey and not throw games. They will lose a lot of respect from the fans and other teams. Not only that, they may screw all the other conference teams and their standing in the playoff hunt. I am shocked that this is even being blogged about by a team's blogger. Not good representation of a fan base, IMO. |

Canada will send a 'My Condolences Letter' to the prairies soon enough.
A special note for Clouts will be included. |

I laugh at the fact you saying Carolina needs d so there gonna draft d when the oilers have needed. In the draft for years and keep picking forwards. Leafs drafted Matt Finn right after the oilers picked a forward in the 2nd round last year. Wake up edmonton and draft some (frank)in d cause yours suck ballsack...ohh and the oilers aren't gonna tank on purpose. Wake up. Are you related to ek? - phaneuf03

You really are an idiot. One more blog suggesting the oilers tank and i'm leaving this site. No team plays to lose you moron. I didn't even read the whole blog, the first have of it was bad enough. - deadsector
The Oil have not intentionally tanked the last 3 years so why now? The players will play to the best of their ability and that is all that can be asked of them. This whole organization needs to try and end the year on a somewhat winning and positive note, not the constant losing and last or near last place finishes that have been happening for too long now. Some of their young guns will want out if this continues. |

Great lesson to teach the kids, Cloutier What kind of message does that send to the players and their fans? Both deserve way more.
Whatever happened to pride, dignity, integrity, respect and sportsmanship? Sadly enough, too many of these virtues are lacking around the league today.
Push for the playoffs. Give the fans something to cheer for and get behind. Take "the next step" in the players' development.
The Oilers are on the threshold of some very exciting years, don't (frank) it up now. |

I get your point but the core Pitts put together during there tank yrs makes edms laughable - Bieksa#3
somewhat agree. no team ever got as lucky as Pitts in winning the Crosby lottery and even getting Malkin at 2nd, probably the best 2nd pick since Pronger. to be the worst team in the league when two generational talents are available was unbelievably timely. I believe Hall is going to be a top 5 forward and might be a Hart candidate once or twice, but doubtful to ever win. RNH might be an Art Ross canditate, but again, not proven. Yak, to early to say. i think it is safe to say that not one of Edmonton's 1sts will be as good as Crosby or Malkin. few are. |
