Cloutier in no way shape or form speaks for the Oilers or the fans.
He's 100% on an island with this nonsense.

What an absolutely atrocious blog Clouts. Is it just me or is it every time he writes a blog like this were it is evident he knows very little about hockey, he never shows up in the thread to defend his writing? But if you call him on a trade proposal he is the first to criticize you |

It's almost pointless to write this out. Clouts tends to attract the idiot fans from other fan bases. It's unfortunate really. Be nice to talk hockey with the more intelligent ones but when you get a dumb blog like this, flies swarm the poop. |

What is unfortunate is that Clouts is more of an idiot than all of the so called "idiot fans from other fan bases" , it reflects poorly on Oiler fans , unfortunately |

why would this team intentionally lose
the fans are sick of #1 draft picks and AHL superstars coming into the NHL to have a bright future. Edmonton has enough young talent and don't need any more high draft picks...
They need to win. They need to win for the fans, for themselves, for the staff..for everyone...aren't they sick of losing? If they play-off hope is still alive no matter they have to win every single game or only 1 to make it in they should play hard and the fans completely agree with this. The oil are dangerous when theyre on top of their game..
That being said theres no reason to lose on purpose for another draft pick, you guys had enough draft picks and its just time to start winning...and you will.. because you have a solid team...add a solid d-men back there in the summer and start over next year...don't lose on purpose.. maybe getting so close to that 8th spot will give the fire the fuel it needs to burst into flames..finishing so close to a playoff spot but not getting in might just turn this group around and make them more hugry than ever next season..
and like i said..the playoff dream is still there...so work for it, cause it may happen this season too |

Getzlaf, Giroux, M.Richards, Eberle, Perry, among many others are all great first round picks that didnt go in the top ten, managing a team to lose is not a good way to run a team...Detroit has been competitive in the playoffs for 20 years now, we could learn from them instead of teams like the Panthers, Islanders, Jackets(till this season, or Thrashers) |

You've called out Oiler's management numerous times, this certainly isn't the first.
Gotta love when some no talent clown, who happens to be the biggest joke among the real media in Edmonton, who I highly doubt cant even skate (would the ice even hold you? you unhealthy piece of poop) thinks he knows better than people who do this for a living.
You're a (frank)ing joke. Go grab a dozen more cheeseburgers and call it a day |

Having now read the blog as opposed to just the title, I will concede that it's pretty clear the intentionally lose idea is a cynical and sarcastic sketch - outpouring from a disgruntled fan.
The crux of the blog is actually what we've been talking about all year and in the recent past:
Impatience with what seems at times to be "on the fence" management.
And that's fine but still so very illusory from where we as fans sit. |

Playing meaningful games is more important then a high pick. I am sick of talking about the draft at this point and so should that hockey team. They want to make it close at least. |

Tanking? What a joke! This blog makes the Oilers reader the laughing stock of the HB community. It's embarassing.Tambo is doing the right thing,IMO. Why take a chance on a rental when they are not in a playoff spot? Why drop our veterans for mid round draft picks when there is a chance at a playoff spot, and like them or not, they are at least part of the reason the Oil is in the conversation?
What exactly is the Market for Jones,Petrel,Whitney and Hemsky? How can we be sure they even had one decent proposal for any of these guys? Was there even the slightest bit of interest in Belanger or Eager? I would rather think a shot at the playoff's and the experience gained down the stretch is more valuble to the teams development that a handful of 3rd or 4th round draft picks.
In Stu we trust? I have heard it a million times on these boards. 12th overall? Great, let's see what the Magnificant Basterd can do.
What exactly has Tambo done? He avoided trading away a core player & he brought in Fistric and Brown to make us tougher.Sure Fistric doesn't play much, but if you don't think Brown has made an impact on the 4th line your not watching the same games as I am.
The best thing management could have done was nothing at the deadline. There is no way we could have upgraded our center ice position or found that stud D-Man. Let's face it, the sellers were pretty few this year, and even if if our 1st rounder was in play, how many teams would be willing to trade away a stud D-man who isn't past his prime? Was that 2nd C even available?
If Tambo is going to inject something into this team, it has to happen at the draft or in Free Agency. This team does not have the depth in any of our key positions to deal away a good player, let alone 2 good players in a package. We will be in better shape a year from now even if we do nothing (though Whitney,or a suitable replacement needs to be signed). |

I don't think it's on the fence Management.I think Management clearly understands that the Organization has a lack of depth at the replacement player level. It's too early to tell if that will an area of strength or not in the next 2-3 years as most of our prospects are in junior. Before the Deadline the Oilers had 6 players on the farm who could be called up to play, meaning we had replacements for a bottom 6 center, bottom 6 winger, bottom paring or 7th D-Man and a back up goalie. Hard to make an impactful trade when all we have to offer is depth players and Ales Hemsky. |

I'm going to go back and read the article - though I'll likely regret it. What the hell kind of stupid question is that (re: the title)? Have you played any sport ever? What were you thinking when you typed those words? This isn't fantasy land, despite the amount of NHL 2013 you play. It's a business and a career for management and players respectively. Only a fan with his head up his own rear end could fathom intentionally losing.
GO BLACK SOX!! [/img] |
