Big difference between saying Dupuis wanting 5 million and a writer speculating it, wouldn't you say? He deserves a raise without question. I'm willing to bet he stays in Pittsburgh for 3-3.5 per over going somewhere else for 4 million. People don't realize he loves playing in Pittsburgh and why not? - Oneonta Penguin
I'm with you 100%. I was just pointing out that this was the article that I believe he was referring to. Since he wouldn't provide it, I did.
I think he does stay in Pitt for 3 million. I'm also willing to bet that if he asks for 4 million and is willing to leave over it, Shero gives him the 4 and I think it would be a great deal for both parties. |

Geez, 1.5 million.
Exactly what the Isles are paying Carkner for 3 years.
But, your keen insight and incomparable hockey savvy have produced yet another fine analysis. - Downeaster
Carkner also got 1.5 million per for 3 years. And that validates my point even further. If teams are willing to pay 1.5 million for a guy like that, 5 million for Duper isn't that far off especially if the team isn't Pitt.
And if you are looking at either the Isles or the Rangers for an example of a good deal that doesn't include waiver wire pickups that happen to work out, then you are looking in the wrong places. |

Our record on the road is the only reason we're still playing. We finished a game under .500 at home. - potvin05
True but I think of it this way - if they won 75% of the games they lost at home they'd be the winners of the Presidents Trophy. So in theory, that means they were better at home this season. Also, Bridgeport won 32 games this season. So if you add their total wins to the Isles total wins you get 56 wins in a 48 game season. That's like more than undefeated. Sure the math is a little weird but hey, Go Isles!
Pascal Dupius (sp) is also a good hockey player. The Wild let one get away from them. - potvin05
Duper SUCKS! He only scores because he plays with Crosby. Put anyone in that position and they'll rack up points like crazy. Have you ever watched him? After this season he should be gone. Reid McNeill is ready and needs to take over that spot on the first line.

ok so (frank) that, embarrassing loss. Welcome to the playoffs guys - now get your heads out of your asses and play.
On a side note, how about Wade Redden - Mr.Black
They are growing as a team. Go easy on them. Can't you see the progress they've made this year? You're acting like they had like 1 scoring chance and lost by 6. They are going through some growing pains and it's expected. Just like the 07 Penguins and look where they were the next season. |

if dipietro is worth 67.5 mil, then lundqvist is worth 50000 mil.
- rangerdanger94
Even if DiPietro is only worth 50 cents, Lundqvist is still worth $50B....especially to a team that only scores two goals a game most of the time . |

but he is an unproven AHL prospect... Would the mighty penguins go that route and go with an unproven "AHL PROSPECT." He is also a defensman but thats neither hear nor there. |

Sit Reasoner(forever) Boyes and Strait.
Can't believe no one is even playing like they give a damn.
Just don't get it.
- Mancalledsting
I think they do play like they give a d*mn- what they do NOT do is play a consistent, defensive system on a nightly basis. They did so for three weeks, and they won practically every game they played. One game against Dustin Byfuglien, and it's back to the shinny. They need to have that drilled into their heads- "caring" and "trying" was nice when they were cr*p, but now more needs to be expected of them.
Their ice time needs to be threatened- they don't just have useless Eric Boulton on the sidelines now; they have a whole bunch of talented kids who would like nothing more than to have their first NHL game be a playoff game. They need to be made to understand that there is an expectation- yes, "battle level", if that means growing a pair of testicles, is part of that. When I see the Pittsburgh Penguins getting behind the defense, and/or repeatedly coming in 2 on 1, it means someone (or more than one of them) isn't using his d*mned brain out on the ice to do HIS job properly. As Butch said last night in regards to Al Arbour, the expectation should be that even if the building is burning down around you, your job is to do YOUR job, and not worry about anything else.
After three weeks of excellent hockey, I am now convinced that this IS being articulated by the coaches. What I am NOT convinced of is that it is EXPECTED. That is what needs to change, and why I'd like to see a defensive oriented coach with a bit more of a track record in here.
PS- That was a total sh*t penalty call against Reasoner, but I hope he gets suspended for the rest of the series. Tomorrow night, maybe Boyes can trip over his own skates and elbow Malkin in the face by accident. |

Call on Cooke was weak too. - lloyd095
Yeah, the officiating has been cr*p all year. Our problem last night was that our team was cr*p. The officiating had nothing to do with that. |

The biggest issue to me is the first line.
They double cover JT in the nuetral zone so JT does the right thing and passes it off to Moulson or Boyes. Moulson and Boyes dump it in to send the other in to chase. Problem is, they are both too slow to dump and chase. - Danformo
Moulson is too slow. Boyes is too uninterested in "getting his hands dirty". This coach talks a lot about "battle level". Boyes has none, as in ZERO. He thinks he's earned a contract for next year by what? Having 20 some odd assists playing with Tavares? Trevor Gillies would have 20 assists playing with Tavares. At least Reasoner is useless because he's old, and Boulton is useless because he only has one function on the ice in the first place. Boyes is just useless. He brings NOTHING, period. |

Carkner is one thing...But Bolton, well that's just asking for dumb penalties to be taken and the Pens scoring on them. Book it if he is in the lineup. - NewYawkIslandez
Carkner SHOULD BE our #6 in the playoffs. There's the first coaching error, right there... Boulton is worthless, unless we play the Flyers. |

With 10 seconds left of the penalty to Brian Strait, the Pens get a lucky goal and a geometry lesson in a space no bigger than a crack.

...but if you can play the position properly, that isn't really an issue for a #6 defenseman. What is an issue is having the b*lls to not let the other team intimidate you in front of your own net. He's got that one covered. |

Pittsburgh will be against the cap if they sign Inginla which means Dupuis will be elsewhere...heard he wants at least $5 million a year per your newspapers... - kear20
That might be what it takes to get him leave!!! No seriously though no way he gets that kind of cash. |

I can't. When I make serious posts on this board I get banned. So I'll just post in "Islander Fan Mode".
You see my posts in the Pens board. Serious, respectful and good discussion. I tried that here and got insulted, family got insulted, all kinds of names thrown at me. So now it's "Islander Fan Mode" from now on. - kencan98

If Boogard is worth 1.5 Mill a year (according to the Rangers), Duper is worth 5 Mill or more. - kencan98

Beautiful shot? Yes. But still a shot that should have been stopped. That was a bad goal by Nabby. He has to stop that shot and would have if he just stayed on his feet. I think that's what he meant by "lucky". |
