Beautiful shot? Yes. But still a shot that should have been stopped. That was a bad goal by Nabby. He has to stop that shot and would have if he just stayed on his feet. I think that's what he meant by "lucky".
- Jethro09

I get that it's a bad goal for Nabby, but when i think "lucky" goal, i think bad bounce or deflection off of a defenseman, not a snipe of a shot into a extremely small window.

oh boy, one Islander loss and it's instantly back to targeting the Rangers payroll.

It hit the linesman right square in the nads which prohibited the puck from going deep and killing off the penalty. That was where the bad luck lies.

Not at all. I said the same thing in regards to Carkner. The point is that if teams are willing to pay that amount for a player like that, any team, then Duper is worth at least 4 million. The teams don't matter.

Didnt he score tonight?

Didnt he score a second time?

Did Crosby play?

See where Im going with this?

One lucky game and you think the guy is the greatest player to ever wear skates? Come on.

but he is an unproven AHL prospect... Would the mighty penguins go that route and go with an unproven "AHL PROSPECT." He is also a defensman but thats neither hear nor there.
- NYI78

He is a defenseman. You are right. But he is being groomed for that spot and has proven in his 3 or so AHL games that he's ready.

You obviously haven't seen him. He's generational talent and is ready to play next to the best player in the world.

They should dump Dupuis and sign boyes in the offseason.

No they are both terrible. They only score because of who they play with. McNeill is the guy. He's proven himself in the AHL and is being groomed for the wing. He's ready.

I thought so too. Any of us real fans can see that the guy just had a lucky game. Without Crosby he's nothing.

Are you crazy? Nino? Really? Why would we give up generational talent like that for nothing? Why would we give him up at all?

Don't just look at his NHL production. He played with a bad line. The trade request thing was his agent, not him. He didn't get invited to camp because of the lockout. And he didn't get invited to join the team in the playoffs because of WC. He loves it here. It's obvious.

And Boyes is terrible. Anyone but Boyes. Worst player in the league.

(Serious Post)

Bennett has a pretty serious shot and that goal wasn't luck at all. He saw a spot just big enough to put a puck through and he placed it perfectly. Nabby should have had it covered but to place it perfectly like that isn't a "lucky" goal at all.

I don't even know how to respond to this. A 30 Year Old with 35 points in 48 games being one of the most sought after forwards in this years UFA class? That's crazy talk. Now if he had 80 points in 48 games, maybe, but it's still Brad Boyes and he is known throughout the league as the worst player to ever lace up skates. He doesn't even deserve a spot on the 28 and Over Deck Hockey teams at Skate Safe.

I was impressed he had the stones to even take it. You miss the net there and the puck goes around the end boards and out, maybe even creating a shorthanded chance. Pretty impressive from a rookie on his first ever playoff shift.

According to some it was a "soft goal".

If you watch it again it almost looks like the spot wasn't even there. He kind of anticipated Nabby moving then shot where the opening would be if he moved.

I'm sure the nerves were going crazy with the first playoff game and all but imagine that plus the fact that you are on a team full of superstars. He's got skill and the confidence to use it on a team that's full of players he probably looked up to growing up.

Boyes is the player that can return this once proud franchise to its glory. You are a typical Islander fan under valuing such a great talent. Nino is a bust, we don't need him anyway with Boyes emergence as a true power foward. Lundvquist is the best goalie EVER to lace up skates. We have NO prospects worth a damn. The Islanders should just fold up there tents and move to KC screw Brooklyn if the don't sign Boyes. Look no further than any other team in the league to realize just how horrible and stupid Isles fans are. As far as I'm concerned it's Boyes or bust. That should be the Isles new slogan. Maybe I'll make a youtube video pushing this so the Isles will see it? I'll sell it to them. I can cast further than anyone else.

Meh, it was a heady play from a young player considering they knew Nabby had just taken one off the noggin. I wouldn't call it necesarrily lucky, but I will say no matter how accurate he is, he misses that shot 8 out of 10 times. It was a miniscule area to shoot at with a dman on his hip. Ray Bourque isn't hitting that shot more often than not.

I consider that goal on two people, Reasoner and Nabby. First off, Reasoner was on Bennets heels above the faceoff circle and completely stopped skating leaving it as a one on one opportunity. That was a terrible mistake since he didn't even try to cut accross to take out the center. Second, NO goalie should give up a shot like that. Nabby made himself small in net by going to a knee and hugging the post, it was rather DP like. I would have rather he came out a bit and completely eliminated the angle while showing a little trust in his defense to clog the slot.
The game certainly wasn't on Nabby by any means since we were completely run over, but his performance was far below playoff expectations. Despite the one goal given up, Poulin was solid last night for a complete hasbeen

He could take that shot 100 times and probably not make it again. I watched it happen 50 feet in front of me and it was in and out so fast the only reason I knew it went in was I saw the net move. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the shooter.
