Exactly, this had nothing to do with a far superior team winning.
All our coaches fault
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
No doubt that the blame can't totally be put on Cappy as we're simply playing a far superior team, but let's also not pretend that Cappy doesn't have to be extraordinary in this series as well. It starts with how effects the chemistry whether that be through scratches or line combos. Then preparing the team. I didn't like any of the three factors I saw last night. The Isles looked like they were totally shocked by the level of intensity. |

FWIW, for you guys mad at your coach and they players for not being ready, I don't think it was the case. I thought the first few minutes, the Islanders were OK, but then they gave up the first powerplay, and then the first goal, the building was rocking, and things just got away from them, and before they knew it it was 4-0...I know its cliche, but I don't think the lack of experience in that situation can be overstated. The Islanders don't really have anyone who has "been there done that" that they can look to when things start to go south, including the coach who can say "OK, just take a deep breath". Add that to the way the Penguins are playing right now, and they are going to make a lot of teams look bad. - Emperor Filonius

Reasoner last night was two gears behind anyone else on the ice, horrible tripping penalty that put them down two and took away any chance at a comeback and then took a run at a player who'd done nothing to deserve it and stuck out his knee. The fact that he missed is irrelevant, he needs to be suspended, scratched and gone from the team.
I expected the Isles to come out and be a bit overwhelmed, and it definitely looked bad. Whether they can play a tighter game on friday will tell us whether or not it'll be a repeat of their sweep in 94 when they were shelled by the rangers in every game.
Tough loss, learning experience and move on. without reasoner. ever again. - Isles_since_6
Agreed... that should be the last game Reasoner ever puts on a NYI jersey... Good riddance. Isles need to take a long shower and wash away whatever you wanna call that last night. Hit the reset button and come out and play their game. If it isnt good enough, so be it but they need to play their game if that have any shot at making this series remotely competitive. Cappy needs to also step up his game. Change the lines or maybe he should of call a timeout and slow things down last night, prob wouldnt of mattered tho... |

The major difference is the Rangers owner spends money... Isles owner doesn't.
Give Garth another 20 million... I think he might spend it!!! - jimmc7722
Garth would not know what to do with it. He be like umm wait umm I am supposed to be a real GM now. Might be the day he steps down from the pressure |

troll reported - rangerdanger94
Yea sorry, just think the Caps are going to get it done. I actually think they take this series in 6 or less. The Rangers aren't playing the Panthers and Hurricanes anymore. I think they'll be back to having trouble scoring.
But that's just one mans opinion. And it's not trolling because I'm saying that in here. |

you guys were playing pretty well up until that 2nd goal. after the 1st goal, it looked like you guys felt a little disheartened but also picked up your play a but and then after that 2nd goal...you guys kinda just fell apart.
nabby's gotta stop that 1st goal. he just has to with such a young team in front of him and so early in the game. if you guys have any shot at winning a game or 2, you guys have to score first and nabby has to make all the saves he's supposed to. |

This line is why I disagree with your first line. The Isles weren't prepared to bounce back from adversity which was one of the factors they needed to be prepared for. I think if the Isles weather the storm in the first period, it's a completely different game, but to drop 2-0 inn the first and open the second with a 5 on 3 (largely in part to a very questionable lineup decision) was a killer. This team was not ready for the worst case scenario and looked clueless as it happened. |

let's not forget the caps were playing the SE for the last 15 games of the season
i think this is one of the most balanced and tough to tell series with 2 of the hottest teams in the nhl. i'm hoping nash will just take over and when he does that, very few defenders can contain him and i see no one on washington that will be able to really contain his power and size...nash will just push green aside. |

Even if DiPietro is only worth 50 cents, Lundqvist is still worth $50B....especially to a team that only scores two goals a game most of the time . - dcb1
The Rangers score more goals 5 on 5 than the Islanders do. As a matter of fact the Rangers were 3rd in the league in 5 on 5 scoring surpassed only by the Blackhawks and the Penguins.
Its their power play that sucks and drags their goals per game down, .19 goals per game less than the Islanders. |

I think this is the Rangers series to lose. If Hank can be Hank, and your D can contain Ovie/backstrom, then the series is in the bag. I dont buy what the caps have to offer, never have and never will. |

you are 100% correct. Not saying another coach would have decided the outcome but I bet for damn sure it would not have been 5-0. No timeout no emotion no nothing from the guy. He was clueless you can tell from his face he was saying crap.
I honestly think that JAck really thought there was no way this team will make the playoffs so he had no game plan. The Islanders came out unmotivated skated around for 60 minutes and lost. If he though they played a good game well then he should be fired on the spot - kasperrko
I'm no fan of Cappy, but you can't blame him for the players not showing up. For the six weeks this team was unbeatable, I didn't read anything about how bad a coaching staff the Isles have.
The Isles are out-classed in this series. The coaches didn't lose the game. The refs didn't f**k the Isles. The Isles' f**ked the Isles. They played careless and on their heels all night against a far superior team. Calling a time out wasn't going to stop that beating. |

what does any of that have to do with the team scoring 2 goals a game? Who cares how they are scored or if they are 5on5, 4on4, on the PP or the PK???

I agree with everything you said... Coach didnt lose the game, the refs didnt screw us... The players lost and the players were out played... But it is also the Coaches job to try switch things up, change the gameplan, call a timeout and try to stop the momentum and make adjustments. I didnt see anything or the sort. The fact that he didnt even use the timeout just shows that he didnt know what to do and was probably just as rattled as the players were. Hopefully everyone learns from this and Game 2 and on are totally different. Like I said before the Islanders have to play their game if they want to make this series remotely competitive. |
