i agree actually...moulson has been alot more frustrating to me than boyes has... been saying it since half way thru the season...if MM doesnt score, hes USELESS
- LetsGoIsles

Yeah, he's been real bad this year. JT needs some new line mates. Hopefully Snow can fill in Boyes spot this summer if not there is some cause for concern, especially if he resigns him

apparently ses111:

Reasoner was not good enough to play down the stretch in important games and now he plays in the playoffs? JJ was playing fine and should have stayed in the lineup. Moves like this make it real hard to have any faith in Jack.
- ses111

You had faith?
- Cptmjl

Good point I had some faith before the last 3 games.

I do not recall calling Jack a good coach? The team made the playoffs and I was feeling better about him but a good coach is too strong a word. If I left that impression my bad.

I agree Boyes not getting it done, But you are crazy not to think that Moulson has been way worse. You want to say well he scored last 3 seasons to his defense. Sorry, that was behind us. right now we are in playoffs and moulson hasnt done anything in last 20 games.

Moulson deserves a Seat and Boyes Deserves a line demotion.

As for Strait, it hink he good dman but personally a healthy Martinek is better.

- Spartiarti

That first line has been broken for a while now... Boyes defenders point to how the line was on pace to come close/match what the line did last year... In my opinion that's a fail... JT is getting better & better if the line he is on isn't getting better there is a problem. It shouldnt match, it should surpass.
These guys do not have the same flair they had last year (Woooooooooo) There is no cohesion & they seem to score off broken plays rather then being able to complete a set play.
Also as we saw, there is no room for JT to compensate for soft wings, he needs a big body out there to open some space for him.

quote=UIF]Cappy deserves credit for getting the boys ready to play down the stretch. We rip him when they're flat, so we should give him a nod when they're not. But even when they were at their best, he still made some maddening lineup decisions (sitting Martinek for the rest of the season for the sin of having his best game of the season and getting a goal, for example), and their success never came from superior in-game decisions and matchups.

I think Cappy's emphesis on effort is his strength as a coach but he's clearly not a tactician in the field of personnel or x's and o's. You pointed out the Martinek decision, which is one of many of these oddball moves he's made. Other one's that come to mind would of course be:
1. Burrying Grabs for 7 minutes a night of icetime.
2. Starting Reasoner despite his constant ineffectiveness
3. Breaking up the McDonald/Cizikas/Martin line after they majorly performed during a 5 game stretch
4. Insisting on keeping both Boyes and Moulson on the 1st line all season long
5. Not benching Okposo early in the season when his 'battle level' clearly wasn't up to par
6. Overplaying Nabby

I think most of those decisions negatively impacted last nights game. As I said earlier, Reasoners presence on that line did a few negative things. First, it meant we didn't have a single center on the ice capable of throwing a hit. Second, 2 of our 4 centers were sub par NHL players that belong in the AHL. It forced Martin and Cizikas to think twice about forechecking as hard knowing they'd have to pull back out early to compensate for the gaping hole up the middle. Reasoner played directly into 2 of the first 3 goals and later made a bad chip and line change that left Martin and Cizikas standed which led to an odd man rush goal the other way (Aucoin got the minus due to the change).

So one player decision directly impacted 3 of 5 goals. Then the Strait decision (which should be Martinek instead) impacted 2 goals.

So unquestionably we were run over last night and the players failed to respond, but they already skated on the ice with the work made more difficult by some very questionable decisions that almost all of us said before the game would lead to disaster.

Maybe....All year long the one thing we all praised this team for was their ability to bounce back. Well that ability is going to be tested more than ever tomorrow night. If they get blown out again, I think we'll begin to see the desperation moves like major line changes, a couple of rookies, etc. Then it's all about NVMC from there.

Well if it's ever possible that he would do such a thing, you'd think it would come while on the brink....we'll unfortunately find out soon enough.

I don't want him here but I think we all knew the moment we clinched a playoff spot was the moment he punched his ticket for at least another season.

Any word on DP's reaction to not being on the taxi squad? Do you think this finally means we've seen the last of him with the Isles?

Staple: Earl -- DP has been incommunicado since Bridgeport's season ended. I think there's a good chance he'll be bought out this summer, so yes, this could be the end of a wild, 13-year ride.
