Capuano and his facking tape. So sick of hearing how he watches tape constantly, how about making some sound coaching decisions you facking chump? Just make a clearly sensible decision one facking time. Any one of us wouldn't have put Reasoner out there last night. It's such a stupid decision there is no words for it. Obviously the team as a whole mailed it in but the guy was a liability out there. How about motivating your team? Yeah I know they should be able to get up themselves but that was a disgrace yesterday. How can you possibly say to the press that it wasn't as bad as you thought when you lost 5-0? How about a little pride you buffoon? Your team couldn't get a decent shot on that half a fag the entire night. I could've gotten a shut out last night. "wasn't as bad as I thought", wake the fack up Capuano you chump.

Enjoy him, he will be here for at least another year...I bet Snow throws him a 3-5 year contract this offseason.
God forbid we actually made some inquiries into Lindy Ruff. Nahhhhh, this is the Isles. That would do something known as "making sense" and we dont do things like that

He'll probably demote JT to the fourth line and put Reasoner on the first? "he'll get the job done".

We can only hope.

I didn't look at the stats but he must have played damn near 20 minutes last night.

13 minutes which is ridiculous. Should've never played in the first place. Whatever, hopefully we something different on Fri. Obviously without Reasoner in the lineup

He's pretty poopty. Where is Ullstrom? Hurt or just not on the playoff roster? I liked what I saw from him...

Not on the roster. He looked good for a bit but stopped playing at the level he needed too. Anyone in that spot would've put forth a better "effort" then Reasoner. I put effort in quotes because as usual from him there was none. Curious what kind of brilliant moves Capuano has in store for game two? Does he realize how stupid he was or does he continue with his stupidity? The things that Islander fans look forward too.

Not necessarily true. Again, I'll give you an example. Bobby Clarke...stepped directly off the ice and into the Flyers GM position. He became one of the best GM's in the NHL.
His drafting record has been pretty solid (IMO). Better than a lot of other GM's in the league. He's made some nice small deals despite having very little to trade. Vis for a 2nd rounder looks brilliant now considering he's resigned. Moulson great move. Even the Smyth trade proved to have little overall negative impact despite him walking. His waiver work has probably been the best in the league over the last 5 years. In Grabner, Hickey and Nabby alone you have a perennial 30 goal scorer who is one of the best pkers in the league. A top 4 dman capable of doing power play work and an experienced goaltender who is among one of the best in the league.
We can debate the free agency issue all day long but the fact remains that our owner is not spending money now due to huge financial losses and the team is in the worst stadium in the NHL. This team has a terrible reputation that started a good 10 years before Garth ever took the position. Very few GM's would be able to persuade anyone to come here under those circumstances. Yet here we are, in the playoffs and with a TON of talent ready to join this team for next year and tons of cap space. Pretty good job IMO
While there will always be a few people who will cling on the negative yet understandable shock of when Garth was first hired here, the fact is those numbers have decreased drastically over the last year because people are recognizing that he's managed to build a team in quite possibly the worst GM position in professional sports.

I agree Boyes not getting it done, But you are crazy not to think that Moulson has been way worse. You want to say well he scored last 3 seasons to his defense. Sorry, that was behind us. right now we are in playoffs and moulson hasnt done anything in last 20 games.

Moulson deserves a Seat and Boyes Deserves a line demotion.

As for Strait, it hink he good dman but personally a healthy Martinek is better.

- Spartiarti

This season, Moulson hasn't cashed in on some easy tap-ins. I think most would agree. He gets a pass I guess because in prior seasons he was both a surprise and one of the only Islanders who would put he puck in the net on a somewhat consistent basis. Boyes hasn't endeared himself to fans like that, so he doesn't get a pass. If this was Moulson's first season with the Isles, I bet you'd see more Boyes-type comments about Moulson.

The real issue, imo, is having both of them on Tavares' wing. That's something that really needs to be addressed this offseason. One player with a very limited skill set on one wing? Sure. Two? You're asking Tavares to pick up way too much slack I think. Time for Snow to get busy and find a better option. And since Moulson's signed already and has a history with JT, You have to believe the replacement comes at the expense of Boyes.

Ah, see in Cappy world, when a young player shows you something, you bench him until he starts to question himself on every shift. Then he plays with no confidence, and the inexplicable decision to bench him becomes justified. Makes sense, no?

I forget which one of you it was who pointed out Tavares' limited ice time through two periods last night, but that made me crazy when I looked at the stats for the game at that point. I can't believe the solution was to limit the team's best player's ice time. You think they'd do the opposite...double shift Tavares to get him into a favorable matchup on the ice. At the very least, switch him out with Nielsen and give him Okposo and Bailey for a few shifts (Okposo at least looked like he was really into the game last night, and Bailey, despite some mistakes, was able to hang in there on some shifts); let him play a little while with wingers who could create some space for him out there. If Tavares isn't going, the Isles don't stand a chance...he needs to be out there more to get going, not less.

it's kind of late to be questioning snow as a gm. we're in year six, made the playoffs (granted looking bad so far) but for having absolutely nothing in place when he took over I think he's been alright. The few trades he's made have worked out reasonably well and/or not hurt us and the talent is starting to come along. We can go back to bashing Snow, Wang, Cappy as much as we like but the fact remains the team is showing progress.

I'll say it again, I fully expected the Penguins to beat us, and to throw down at least one or two blowouts during it. We don't lose anything by losing in the playoffs - making them is a step and a necessary one. Now they've seen playoff hockey from one of the best teams if not the best this year. Next year they'll have a better idea of what it'll take to make it to the playoffs and what it'll be like. Anyone expecting us to win with a mostly "new to the playoffs" line up was only fooling themselves.

- Isles_since_6

No it's never too late to question the GM. He makes the day-to-day decisions. He hasn't given this team the tools to do anything but MAKE the playoffs and if he jumps the shark you have to call him on it. Cappy is clueless and is Garth's boy. Garth decides the players and keeps cappy on a short leash. Here's one decision that Garth could/should have discussed with Crappy b4 start of 3rd period - WHY play Tavares in the final 10-15 minutes and risk injury?
JT was one of a few giving 100% last night, despite one of his linemates totally sucking...who was Garths big off season acquisition....and WHY REASONER??? Im surprised Garths tires weren't slashed when he left the arena last night. Can't wait to hear his BS speech after all is said & done. And no one will question him, like Botta & Jaffe used to....oh, where are those two guys? They don't believe in all that Garth has done but I guess you know more than them too, right?

He also looks like a 90s pot dealer. Or possibly a guy selling large non descript pills at a truck stop. Your utility knife kind of shady character.

If my house was broken into and the police had narrowed it down to one of the 30 nhl head coaches ,I know who I would be looking at lol

They are growing as a team. Go easy on them. Can't you see the progress they've made this year? You're acting like they had like 1 scoring chance and lost by 6. They are going through some growing pains and it's expected. Just like the 07 Penguins and look where they were the next season.
- kencan98

No it makes no sense, but it's the exact same thing Bylsma has done with Despres. I think Bylsma is great but I don't understand why he can't let Despres loose.

Lou Lamoriello had no NHL management experience either.
As for Clarke, 3 cup appearances with Philly, one as Minnesotas Gm and he also built the Panthers team tha challenged for the cup two years later.
If anything, there is a growing number of teams that are choosing people with no mgmt experience for front office positions.
