Looked a little like that goal off the boards that Mason had in a late series 0-1 loss. Can't remember against who.

Good to see Flurrys playoff mentality is back and kicking.

A few thoughts.

I am willing to bet nobody here wants to part ways with such power forwards as Scott Hartnell or Wayne Simmonds and you can include me as one of those fans. I do however look at the line up the Edmonton Oilers have with plenty of young skill. Some of it they may need to use to acquirea power forward type. The Flyer and Edmonton would both benefit from a Simmonds for Eberle trade for example or Hartnell for Gagner. Again I wouldn't do it possible or not, but I do see that both sides desperately needs what the other has.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Gagne-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Read
Rosehill-Laughton-Rinaldo

As it stands I project we look like this and we do have a reasonable line up but we still need that sure fire skill up front or else we may miss the playoffs a second time. We just need to add.

i hear where you're coming from, but with homer's pronouncement of wanting to get bigger, i'd think think they'd only trade one of those guys for a power forward with a more reliable scoring touch...like ryan. i like paarjarvi, but that's a lower level deal for a guy who's still trying to establish himself as a possible top 6 forward.

I'm not convinced Coburn is really on the fence unless we are getting something as good or better in return. When Grossman first got here, Coburn and Grossman were good together. Many were convinced these two would make for a number one pair. Maybe they still can be but Coburn was only ever consistent next to Timonen. Now all of a sudden Coburn's role is switched. Being placed next to Grossman, Coburn is expected to be the Timonen of the pair. If we can miraculously add a top notch puck mover or Meszaros can come back healthy in a bigger role,I would try one of Meszaros or new acquired player next to Grossman. Maybe even trust Luke Schenn next to Grossman because Schenn was that good this season. Maybe I am way off base buying feel Coburn cannot be the main puck mover of a pair. He might be capable but then again, he might not.

I want Bobby Ryan as much as anyone but the ball is in the Ducks pond. I would try to convince Iginla to come here as well but that's a tall task.

Looked it up and it was against Buffalo. Around the 2.05 mark. Not excactly a clone goal, but similarish.

Luke Schenn has turned out to be better then I expected. I wanna see how far we can push his abilities

i think iginla is at his final destination. ryan's been discussed here so much as to be a running joke, but he really would be a good fit at the right price. but like you say, the ducks seem to hold the cards w/ him even if he did have a down yr.

Coburn/Grossmann will never be a number 1 pair. It only worked it the Pitt series because no one on the Pens was playing smart hockey. Anyone that believes that they could be an effective top pair needs to take the orange sunglasses off.

if he comes thru a full season as well as he did most of the 48, i'd be thrilled...and unconcerned about what jvr is doing going forward.

Agreed but as a pair I find them quite prone to getting burned by speeder players. In the long run I don't like them as a duo.

I do like Luke Schenn but the Schenn for Jvr is still a deal I never would have made. I still feel we should have got more. Like a third round pick...

What the Flyers needs are glaringly obvious. Top sniping winger to play with Giroux. Puck moving dman who capable of putting up points. The rest is about staying healthy and staying consistent with the hard work.

I think they should sign a 4th line center. I am not so sure I wanna see Laughton with the big club yet.

maybe gusty could hold up w/ nic, but he'd have to raise his game. really need at least one solid new puck mover w/ this mix.

Read's potential cap hit in 2014-15 is more of the concern not 2013-2014. Several top guys will get raises. Timo is gone, but the hope would be that the club added a top tier replacement. If Read can aide in that then deal him.

my thinking as well. it seemed like we had a puck mover in house in carle. DLeed said a deal was in place -supposedly lower than what carle ended up signing for- so i wanted to keep jvr and carle and go from there. but at some point, if luke can sustain his level of play, he's an asset we can feel good about. let him prove it for a full season though...jvr too.

Matt Read could potentially head in the same direction as Ville Leino. Read will be due for a big raise and I feel he already doesn't have a long term future with the flyers after the flyers made a decision on Voracek. On another note, I still don't like the Scott Laughton pick of last season's draft in the first round. Call me crazy but if we could move him to somehow get back on track, I would do it. Laughton might be a responsible defensive forward but I feel first round drafted players should be offensively gifted.

Laughton may never be anything close to Couturier or Schenn...

don't get the supposed reluctance to sign hall. easy to lose him w/ such a low salary and he takes hard mins away from key plyrs when needed along w/ superior f/o ability.

i'm always a big advocate of seasoning our guys in the A rather than sticking them out there for 8 mins a nite on the 4th line. the alternative - which worked for stamkos- is to keep him here and spot him the first part of the season, allowing him to work on his conditioning on his off days. then, midway thru, give him real mins in a defined role as a more prepared, more physically mature plyr.

Why do they need to lose Meszaros? If he is healthy enough to play, he's one of their 4 best defensemen. If not, they can LTIR him and get the exemption. He's in the last year of his deal, so it's not as if he's an albatross moving forward, either.
- Jsaquella

Well how likely is it that he will even resign with the Flyers? To sign Clarkson, and to bring in someone like Gardiner, even though he's still on his rookie contract, one of either Coburn or Mez has to go. I'd still rather keep Coburn over Mez

there are some serious questions about mez's shoulder, so i don't envision a scenario where he could be traded. don't think he has real value to anyone except the flyers at this point.
