Morrissey sounds like a great pick. I bet if he was bigger he would be in that top 10 range for most lists.
Weren't the same concerns about rnh grabbing his points on the power play in junior? |

I always felt he was a good goalie who used his size and blocking style well, but thrived in a system that had defensemen push forwards outside and let him deflect rebounds to them for quick outs. He never could play the puck, but neither can 90% of the goalies in the league these days. I don't know about the Flyers these days but I always felt he was one of the safest goalies in a one vs one situation at least when he was a Coyote. - AdamFrench
Only part that doesn't seem right to me. Bryz just can't stop break-aways or shoot-outs... almost same thing.
I can see the Flyers system being different then Phoenix, thus his erratic play, but a 1-on-1 is no different on any team, and shouldn't change this much. As one that always gives Bryz the benefit of the doubt, this actually worries me. |

RNH had a lot of PP points and a lot of 5 vs 5 points, well he had a lot of points. Such great vision. It was more of an issue in his first WHL year |

If he's looking not to this offseason, but to next, there might be a case, since Giroux, B. Schenn, Couturier, Read, and Meszaros all come up for new deals then, but with Briere off the cap this year, Bryz off either this year or next, and Kimmo off next, we should be able to move some cash around.
Then again, we are talking about a Leafs fan, so that's almost certainly giving him too much credit. |

Mez won't get a new contract is my hunch. I've got an itching feeling that Read is so valuable as a trade asset, yet so replaceable on the roster, that it'd be hard not to use him as a strong asset in a trade. I agree with Read, Coburn, 3rd rounder for Edler and a 2nd/3rd. B Schenn, Simmonds, and the 1st rounder should stay here if it is help able. |

I disagree that Read is so replaceable. It would be very difficult to find a player with an 800K Cap hit. That can play on any line. In any situation. On the PP, PK. A very difficult player to find. |

In one player, yes. But he can be replaced on the PP, and he can be replaced on the PK. He is a machine, but that's part of what makes him so valuable. Plus, it's not like he's elite, or anything. He can play the 2nd PP, and the 2nd PK. I don't know if he can ever do much better, as he should just be entering his prime next season. He's more of a luxury piece than a necessity piece. |

In a Cap environment, the Cap hit i a huge factor. Can't be ignored. And I couldn't disagree more with saying he's a luxury. |

But his cap will only be that low for 1 more year. After that, the value he has because his cap is so low is all but lost. Plus, who would you rather have, Read, or Edler? |

That is true. I'm not saying I wouldn't trade him for Edler. I'm saying he's not a luxury, and is not easily replaceable. |

Lindy Ruff seemed to love Read, playing him more than Guys like Jordan Staal. Read is a gifted player and if he leaves the flyers, I see him being another Patrick Sharp type player. I also see him being a Captain at some point in the future. He speaks very well and seems to analyze the game very well. |

First off, I do hope the Flyers end up drafting a D. We don't need anymore help up front via drafting. The main concern is D, so we should take a D. Monohan would help, but he isn't needed.
As for any hypothetical trade involving Edler would probably be based around Coburn and/or Meszaros + Read + mid pick. Just my two cents.
Anything more, and I wouldn't do it. |

Also, as hard as it is to final that elusive D the Flyers are looking for, I would try and get Ryan Pulock. He may not have that all-in-one quality, or true shutdown man, but I think offensively, the Flyers could get a home-run type of player for their puck-moving and PP units. |
