I would have to think by looking at the teams in the top 5 that A) they will not want to make the Oilers better or give them a higher pick, and B) I would have to think it costs way more then that to get into the top 5 but that is just my $0.02 |

The deal proposed is actually reasonable. I wonder If we throw in a second rounder they really listen? |

Barkov has military duty apparently. He won't be in the lineup. Regardless he should be given one more year in Finland and then a year in the ahl. He won't be 18 for a while. Almost the youngest in the draft. |

Pred's arent that kind of team though. They know that Barkov is something that they need really bad. They dont pick Top 5 often as we all know. They arent gonna sacrifice that piece to go down and get a lesser player just have another 1st rounder next year. Esp since EDM is improving. Could very well make the playoffs next year. And once your in you never know whats going to happen. Could take series and then that 1st rounder is even worse. Preds dont really gamble that way. Barkov is theyre guy and for them to sacrifice that, they would need to take on the 7th pick and prolly some sort of quality roster player. And if someone is willing to offer that up. Then the Preds really know Barkov is speical and still prolly turn the deal down. I think EDM is just gonna pick at 7th or move it for a player from another team. |

Hyptohetically speaking. If I knew we were getting a solid fill in centre, say brad Richards if he's bought out, I'd REALLY think about adding a roster player to move up. That's my opinion of course and I don't expect other oiler fans to agree.
Maybe this works.
Paajarvi 7th and 37 th for their fourth and a pick.
We really do need that big centre and I can almost guarantee it's not coming by trading. |

All those scandanavian counties have the military duty. Might even have to wait two years. |

Every finnish male must serve one year in the army (They do it while playing) that is the only issue in drafting Barkov.
If you can call it that. Watching him get a 70% FO win % and dominate the WJC as still one of the youngest guys there will be enough satisfaction.
Ristolainen is currently doing his duty btw, as his older age has let him do it early.
Barkov at 17 and one of the youngest guys in the draft is actually hurtful in that he must fulfill that obligation despite his NHL readiness. |

And for these reasons I'm willing to do a Brian Burke trade for this player. |
