I was just correcting Dee. I never said anything about financial success and hockey success being related in any way.

Sather has the ability to "hire an unproven coach" as he has shown back in 2002 when he hired Trottier....and that didn't work out well

Who really cares about the blog,

more annoyed that Bickell will sign in Chi...... another good FA off the boards
makes me wonder if Snow will sign anybody bc there's not much worthy FA available, and we all know he doesn't trade.....

- Ur Not Me

FA Viktor Stalberg could be a nice pickup if Bickell re-ups with Chicago.

I like Stalberg also bc of his speed, and Horton and/or Jagr
if Horton does not resign......

I agree. Everyone is so sold on the idea of a veteran coach when there are some indications he will go the opposite direction.

Yeah man, that'd be a good signing. Most of the hawk fans on here seemed to think that they'd sign one or the other so I guess he's the odd man out?

Like we all have been saying hopefully Garth goes after the top 6 forward, a goalie and top 4 defenseman...and hope 2 or 3 of our prospects make the team...

Guys I would be willing and not furious giving up to trade for a player of move up in the draft. I am sure you will all say these guys are worthless.. .but I will put them down anyay.

Lee- He is a Big kid and I may be very wrong on him ,but I don't think he has the speed or Quickness to be a top 6 guy.
Hickey .. He played great for us last year but he showed he is just too small and got man handled in the playoffs. Pittsburgh made a point to go after him physically. That and with all the guys hopefully coming up the ranks he is tradeable.
Rites to Streit, Aucoin, Joensuu, etc. ...Any UFA we are not signing move them for a late round pick... or package etc...
Ness- I just don't see ANOTHER small puck moving forward ever breaking into this line up... Plus we need BIG shut down guys at this point.
Finley and/or Carkner... if either are worth something to another team (They're not).. but wouldn't care if gone.

Before you abuse the sht out of me.. remember what Sather got for Gomez. It happens...

Ullstom- I would be pretty upset if they trade him... I love this kid. He is big, Fast and has skill.

Extremely doubtful. They would be giving up a sure fire NHL'er for a few maybes? Anyone they pick is chances are is going to be a star. These kids are that good from what it looks like. You'd have to give up an immediate impact player which we can't/shouldn't do. I like Ullstrom, Hickey, and lee looks like he may turn into something but it would take much more than that. I doubt any of the tip three fives up their picks? It's just not the way it's done these days.

I think it's waaaay too early to draw the line like that on Lee. He's played something like two NHL games at this point. Let's give him time to work on things like conditioning and his skating stride and then see where it goes from there. I'd prefer he get a chance to elevate his value a bit before we just deal him away at the drop of a hat.

As for Hickey, while not large by any means, he's 6' tall and will eventually fill out to about 205-210lbs. This was his first season in the NHL full time and I think he did pretty damn well. He's an offensive dman who plays responsibly in his own zone and makes pretty good breakout passes. I'd suggest they resign him and allow him another year or two to prove his worth. If he has another strong season, he suddenly becomes a 1st round pick who appears to be maturing which will make his value far better than it was when we first acquired him.

I don't see there being anyway a team trades for the rights of any of those three you mention since it's assumed that there will be quite a few salary casualties this year on other teams and draft day trades are expected to be heavier than normal. I certainly can't imagine anyone trading for rights to negotiate with Keith Aucoin.

ness, aucoin, joensuu, finley and carkner have exactly 0 value combined...
