My gut says they're more likely to move Couturier than Schenn. Just a gut feeling, nothing else. - Jsaquella
Because they have Laughton I'm inclined to agree. I also think theyll get a lot more value for Coots than BSchenn at the moment as well. |

I wouldn't think about moving Coots unless Malkin's moved to a team out west first. |

No doubt, they probably would. I just believe Coots if moved goes for the top tier all-world d-man, which of course usually aren't available. With Gonchar getting paid, if I'm the agents for Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk I have zero interest in bridge deals.
Not really surprised by the Bryz buy out talk. Read for Bernier is an interesting trade proposal. I would actually think it is a very good trade for the Flyers. They have young forwards to back fill (not as polished as Read), but they have nobody behind Mason who could be considered young and ready to compete in goal at the NHL level. |

It depends on the return. I'm not against trading anybody, in the right deal. They had better get a long term solution for the blueline if they trade either guy |

It's not carved in stone, but in spite of what has been said in past, I expect PHI is likely to use compliance buyout on Ilya Bryzgalov.
Also, PHI is in market for D and may be willing to move one of their young centres - B Schenn or Couturier - for the right deal. - Jsaquella
Well...I don't really know what to say to the second one.
I didn't think Bryzgalov could escape the CBO, and I'm totally fine with that. Bad contract.
But I just have this feeling that unless the Flyers get one of Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson or Shea Weber himself...then I'm not going to be a huge fan of moving Sean Couturier.
The list gets a little longer if Brayden Schenn's in it, but not by much and I don't think one of those deals gets done without the Flyers throwing in more.
Oh, well. Something's gonna happen...that's just the way this stuff goes. Hopefully our exposure isn't as bad as I fear it will be.

Played well for Luleå in the second half of the season. I question if he's the type of player who would do well over here, but as a later round pick, go for it. - bmeltzer
Thanks. I saw he had decent numbers but I don't know how we'll that would translate over here. Couldn't hurt as a sixth or seventh |

I'm hopeful that the Bryzgalov buyout commences, along with Briere. I have zero qualms about cutting ties in those two cases.
I'm open to trading Couturier or Schenn. There's absolutely the possibility they would make a deal I will hate. But I'm not going to automatically assume that the deal's done and it's Couturier for Yandle and start ripping them before it happens.
If one of the two young centers are traded, I just hope it's for a long term answer on the blueline or in goal.

As much as it would be good to have two good young goaltenders in here, I dont see the point to bring in Bernier.
Mason will need a new deal if he plays well. Why not show some (frank)ing patience and give the kid a real year, with a mentor type to see what he has got.
The talent was clearly evident last season, it seems his head really got messed with in Columbus.
So the solution? Lets trade assets and have 2 young, unproven goaltenders test the waters and compete for a starting job in one of the toughest markets, and media locations.
Hmm what could go wrong there?
Unreal. Keep (frank)ing Mason, sign a guy to mentor him for a little while, and be done with it. Or lets create just more goalie controversy and put more pressure on both of the young goaltenders. Rediculous. Absolutely hate the idea. |

I think we should trade B. Schenn for D. Carcillo. |

Mason might be young but he's got lots of NHL experience. Bernier not as much. I agree it's probably not the best move for Mason, but for Matt Read? Homer would be stupid to not make that move. Granted that is the word of mouth. |

Exactly my thinking regarding Bobo before they jettisoned him to Clb. Homer just can't seem to settle on a long term plan regarding his goalies. |

I dont see the point. You already have a goaltender who is young, fairly unproven in the league, and has clear talent.
Why the hell are you dealing assets to bring in basically the same poop you already have?
Instead of saving those assets, and a damn good player...
While the hell are they looking for a more complicated solution. You have Mason, sign a older guy to mentor him for a little while and be done with it. Young goaltenders with "potential" are usually always available. |

Trading a 20 goal scorer, who plays good two way hockey, can play all 3 forwards spots at a high level, is a good PP guy and an outstanding PK player for a goalie with 62 career games is hardly a no brainer.
Bernier has proven nothing yet. He's a talented kid with a lot of potential. So was Blaine Lacher. And Brian Boucher. And Jim Carrey. |

Its just a rumor but I hate it. (frank)ing headless chickens. I thought Bobrovsky was the plan. Nope ship his ass out and bring in Bryzgalov.
Nope realized we made a mistake so lets bring in Mason. See that the kid clearly has amazing talent, but who cares about supporting him, lets (frank) with his head a bit more and bring in competition and another young kid into a tough market.
If a deal like that went down, its a joke to me. No direction, just throwing darts at the board. Mason has shown a hell of a lot more in his NHL career, behind a tougher system to play in front of, than Bernier has. Support the guy you already have!

I think they value Schenn more, to be honest. I think they have concerns that Couturier's offense will never really blossom and that he'll end up being a Martin Hanzal type guy. Certainly a good player, but not a franchise cornerstone.
That is just a guess...who knows, maybe they are dying to move Schenn |

We will see. I have stood behind Holmgren for the most part these last few years.
The shine of bringing in Hartnell, Timonen, Pronger and Coburn is starting to wear off though.
Its a big summer regarding the future of this team. |
