Limited depth - ob18
It's not so bad, and it should swing a bit more in our favor after this upcoming draft. |

Good thing that most of our forwards are under 24 |

I still think they should resign Hall. They need a good faceoff guy for the 4th line. |

i'd rather see them sign someone like boyd gordon than throw too much money at a top 9 winger |

It's possible. I didn't list him because didn't look NHL-ready in his time with the Phantoms last year (whereas Matt Read immediately looked like he could be too good for the AHL in a similar-length stint after the end of his college career).

What are your thoughts on Simon Gagne?
I personally think they should move on. If he signs for $1.2-1.5M than I guess I could live with it. |

Hall, after the events of last season, would likely sign for the minimum. And I think it would be wise to have a solid FO guy on the team. That made a huge difference for Boston in Game 1. |

i wouldn't be angry if they resign him for something reasonable (short term and no more than 2.5... which is already probably a little higher than i'm comfortable with)
i'd probably rather see the young guys fight it out for that spot, though. i really wanna see tye mcginn get a full-time shot in the bottom six. we'll see how it plays out though |

I like him at $1.5 to $2mm. Gagne, Couts and Talbot, the French Connection, would be a solid shutdown 3rd line with quite a bit of scoring potential. We need that. |

I'm not sure what the Flyers are going to do with him. Anything over 1.5M I would let him walk. |

My god, that means that Pietrangelo could get 12 million a year in the open market easily. |

I thought the salary cap was suppose to help from having these ridiculous cap hits but obviously I was wrong. |

Sergei Gonchar signing for that is actually GREAT NEWS for the Flyers.
Because as of this moment, Andrej Meszaros, with one year left on his contract at a cap hit of $4 million...there's no way he can't be valued at less than a second-round pick in this year's draft. It's impossible!
I understand completely that Sergei Gonchar had a statistically strong season with a playoff team, and yes, his camp could easily argue that he was worth $5 million, which clearly they did and the Stars agreed. Good for them.
But at the same time, you can't tell me that if the Flyers decide to trade Meszaros for salary cap flexibility, SOMEBODY isn't going to look at what you have to pay defensemen in today's NHL and pony up a second for Meszaros, at $4 million for one season.
I know he's been injured. I know, I know, I know.
But there is NO WAY that there isn't one team in the league who is looking around and saying, "Oh, my gosh. We can't pay that kind of money. Who's available for $4 million who can actually play?" |

I think this actually will mean the flyers will go with what they have and see what happens.

The reason I believe Meszaros could be traded is if the Flyers do decide to keep Bryzgalov for one more year. If you do that, even with buying Daniel Briere out, you still probably need to loosen up a little cap space, and Meszaros, again, only has one year left on his deal.
