Looks great to me. Anyone else agree? Other combinations? - coffee junkie
I don't think Streit should be on the top D pairing |
|
|
|
With this move....this only suggests to me that Mez is a goner. I don't see any other way to take it? - Just5
Buyout Bryz and Briere and you're fine. Even with a moderately priced vet goalie backup. Not say he wont be trade but he doesn't have to be. |

Agreed. I'd like him paired with Grossmann at E.S. |

Depends on what would come back for Coby. Would need to be a huge overpayment. Coburn is a much better option then Mez for next year. I have little faith he will be healthy. If cap allows I would keep Mez as a #7 and give Gus the #6 spot. - coffee junkie
4M is an awful lot to pay for a #7. |

Do you guys think its too far out to think the Flyers could package Coburn, the 11th, and a 2nd for Carolina's pick to get Barkov or Nichushkin? Then use Laughton to get someone of Runblad ilk and let Meszaros walk too?
Timonen-Schenn
Grossmann-Streit

Offense would be:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Barkov/Nichushkin

You know, if he stays, and mez goes. The lines could be like this
schenn-streit
timmonen-coburn
grossmann-gus
Coburn for a full season back with Timmonen could be the best thing for him - TrentKlatt
I guess that means that Luke Schenn isn't going to play against top lines? |

I'm thinking Timonen might have to be paired with Coburn agains after seeing how much Coburn struggled without a good defensive player paired with him. |

Sure is. With the many injuries it might atually be money well spent though. |

Watch Garth Snow trade for Meszaros and promptly give him a 5 year for 25 million dollar extension. Snow is good like that |

What do you know about Runblad that suggests he is ready to be a full time NHL defenseman? |

Second or third pairing. Hamonic and Macdonald were number 1 |

Do you think he'll ever be in the NHL? - NYI44
Probably not. Possibly could be a short term call up for a fourth line but has work to do to get there. |

Yeah its just too much money on the back end. Even with Kimmo retiring in a year. Too much salary to carry for 6 dmen, 1 who might be a healthy scratch. I just think that this is it for Mez. He's gone for a can of beans. Either he's gone or you go into next year completely cap strapped (even with the CBO's) and possibly hurting Gus's development |

No more than 2 years at most in any offer they make to Striet |

Well signing Streit certainly makes it more plausible for the Flyers to move up in the draft if they wanted to. |

I suspect it is Coburn + Laughton + 11th to get into top 5. Maybe you get a3rd rounder back

I have doubts about him staying healthy and I also have the least faith in him (among himself, Coburn and Grossmann) in tougher defensive matchups. His Barry Ashbee Trophy season came as the Flyers #5 defenseman, albeit a #5 who played 20 minutes a game. It was awful nice to be able to have five 20-minute D men in the lineup and O'Donnell as the #6. The team's GAA wasn't great but that was more due to Laviolette's style of play than the D personnel being insufficient. - bmeltzer
c'mon, bill. we all know the GAA rested squarely on the shoulders of shoddy goaltending. |
