Hopefully this means they pick defense in 1st rnd and don't trade coots/schenn for some stiff. |

It potentially adds another #3-5 defensemen. I think it is a precusor to have #5, #8 or #41 dealt in another move, if he is signed. - KATG
Yeah, I honestly think we'll offer sheet Shatty or the other guy for St. Louis and send a combination of 1st rounder, Couturier/Schenn, + |

Per Twitter, the Flyers have acquired Mark Streit for a 4th round pick. - johndewar
You have got to be kidding me...
I'm not in love with this. At least it wasn't a 2nd though! We all know Homgoblin loves to munch those early... |

Same problem we had with Hamhuis a few years back? - section32
Why would he sign with us before July 5th if we weren't going to over pay him. The pick isn't conditional and they thew in Shane Harper as a thank you.
I don't like the smell. |

Bye Bye Briere at least. Streit will get close to what Gonchar got especially considering his age in comparison. Homer is not waiting to the last minute to get his Denfensive ducks in a row. |

He will certainly help, but it's a stopgap. Like I said, don't hate it, don't love it. Have to see the contract. |

Id be shocked if they signed him. he's going to make more than we can afford on the open market. Prob just burned a 4th for no reason. |

It will be another guy with a 4-5mil cap hit, so you realistically can only have so many of those. One of the other guys has to go, but I guess maybe he's a better "puck mover" then others to balance out pairings. |

I think we all knew Briere would be gone, but I think this means that Bryz is as good as gone this summer too. |

Well, I suspect that every single Dman that we would want for a long term solution is costing a Cooter or Schen and or the 1st this year..and he'd rather take his chances using streit for a couple years and see what comes on the market then. May be wise |

I think it means both are gone. How do you give Streit his money and keep either AND stay under the imaginary cap reduction. |

He can play 20+ minutes per game in every situation, and is a PP stud.
He was Captain, just like Timonen.
The contract will be same as Gonchar's 2yr/10mill |

Flyers trade for Mark Streit.
Edit: won't get him signed. - mayorofangrytown
Dan Hamhuis all over again? I dont know, I bet they sign him. Hamhuis just wanted to play in Vancouver. Homer will probably pay him, but what does that mean to other pieces of the team? Bryz would definitely have to go |

I haven't payed close enough attention to the cap numbers but I don't think we can keep both and fit Streit in can we? |

Think Homer's hands are tied, would assume demands for d-man are pretty high in the trade market. I'm guessing/hoping 3-4 years 5.5mil per. |

Yep, this fits what they do, but I still admit to being a bit surprised. Thought they'd try to play through with what they have.

I understand about the pick, but no one is complaining about Shane Harper, right? He spent as much time in the ECHL last season as the AHL -- just getting his contract off the 50-man limit was worth the fourth-round pick alone! |
