Based on Bettman's remarks yesterday at the presser, I'd say there is no chance that the Coyotes fold. Moving to another market is a possibility. Quebec is in the process of building a new NHL arena, and Seattle is foaming at the mouth for another professional franchise, and it doesnt look like they'll be getting an NBA team while David Stern still draws breath.

One of the reporters asked Bettman/Daly if there was a possible "third option" for Phoenix, and they confirmed that all options remained on the table, with "third option" assumed to mean something like folding the Coyotes and immediately granting an expansion franchise in Quebec or GTA.

Toronto apparently has severe pull with the BOG, and it would be hard for them to approve another franchise in GTA. Quebec and Seattle make more sense.
Also, Pens to KC ala 2005.

The reality is that Mason could be every bit as good as Bryzgalov or better. And if I knew that to be the case, I'd be fully behind moving on from Bryzgalov. Because why pay the higher Cap hit and deal with the Cap recapture risk? But it could also be worse. So if Bryzgalov is bought out, we'll see what happens. A valid argument can be made for the buyout. All I know, is when I watch the top teams play, I see a drastic difference in the amount of quality chances given up, versus the Flyers in recent play. Not exactly a situation for a Goalie to thrive in. And that's not to say that Bryzgalov coudn't have played better at times also. Because he could've of.

The reality is also that Mason could easily crash and burn with a 3.55 GAA again for the next 3 years. For whatever else he's said or done, Bryz provided a steadier presence in net than we've had for a while. If they are to buy him out this year, they need to have a better plan than Steve Mason. Even if it's to hold onto Bryz for another year to get a better look at Mason over a full season.

Well that's why I said in my response that it could also be worse. But if they buy Bryzgalov out, I want them to go with Mason. And perhaps get a decent veteran as a backup on a one year deal.

Yes! If nothing else I hope Philly has learned its lesson on long term risky deals.
