They have to get tougher, not more timid.

I'd be fine with Carcillo in for Bollig. Doesn't need to be Stalberg that draws back in if Bollig is out. When Bollig plays like he did in Game 1 he has a purpose, but his 0 hits (including a few Kaner flybys) in Game 2 is an example of games when he brings nothing to the table. Give 13 a shot, can't hurt.
I just hope this thread doesn't turn into 30 pages of people trying to force the narratives they brought into this series on what has happened so far like the last one was. Let's avoid that and try discussing the real issues that are actually happening on the ice. |

Agreed, the first thing I thought. Nice to see good taste win out. |

A bad coincidence? Hawks have not one a single game 3 in any playoff round since San Jose in 2010.... |

Good choice on the switch! Obviously not what you meant, but this would have been a headache of a blog.
That being said, I am all for Carcillo. He is what Bollig is, but a veteran. Hope he can calm himself down and walk away from some situations. |

Nice blog! Also glad you changed the title.
Through 2 games, this has been an incredible series! This is the most evenly matched finals in years! |

If Carcillo's knee is OK, I think he can bring something. The Hawks need to change the tone from Game 2 back to Game 1.

If Boston wants to take an extra two, the Hawks can use the power play practice. Fighting is and should be a non-factor in the playoffs. Carcillo should not be out there to fight. If he can draw someone else into something dumb, advantage Chicago. |

John Jaeckel: Carcillo Time? - John Jaeckel
There is upside and down side to Dan Carcillo. A great evening for Carcillo is that he upsets the other team. The down aside is he put himself first by taking a cheap suspendible act or take a costly penalty. |

"In short, the Hawks need to get tougher to beat Boston—to have a chance against a Bruin team that could easily be up 3-1 before this series goes back to Chicago—not faster, cuter, or less physical."

I'm not sure it matters who's in or who's out as the 12th forward. I suppose Carcillo makes sense. Especially since Q will probably go to the blender early and often and Carcillo can handle a couple of shifts. But then again Carcillo will be nailed to the bench for the last 25-30 minutes because Q fears he'll take a stupid penalty.
Is there really a good answer? Stalberg has sulked and been disappointing. Bollig tries but he's just not very good. Smith or Morin might be the best option but Q's not going to go to an option he hasn't tried all year. Maybe Carcillo makes sense.
I'm more worried about Leddy and Seabrook picking up their game. These two games are going to be a giant glass chew....... |

Carcillo is almost better when he plays up on lines, like w/Hossa and Toews. When he's on the 4th line he reverts to stupid stuff.
Not sure about everyone else, but my stomach is already in knots. I just don't know what to expect. Will this team show up or will they be intimidated by Boston's forecheck? Will the stupid decisions by the D cease? Can Toews get on the scoresheet? Will Kane be neutralized? Lotsa questions. |
