Solid roster, I like it. I'd prefer Coburn to Scuderi, but if they can make that trade for #5 I'd do it in a heartbeat. The thing is I think Carolina laughs at that deal. - MJL
It's gotta be close. I'd be willing to give more if they dont think much of Cousins, or we have some room to take salary back from them, bc they are hitting the ceiling too.
All things considered I prefer Scuderi.
Listen we all know the Flyers will probably have zero interest in Filpulla. Just not their type of signing. |

you are going to need a new location - Marc D
It's not done until it's done. But yes I expect the next month to contribute heavily to my new whereabouts. |

I don't know about laugh. You'd have to argue if they would rather add multiple good assets in our trade for only their pick or give their pick plus good assets in order to get a Letang-type. It's not a bad trade - JAKEw1234
I think they would laugh at it. They'd be looking for a young NHL ready player with an all around game, with a lot of upside. Versus a player like Coburn in my opinion. |

It's not the Cousins part that I think they'd object to. It's the Coburn part. I like Scuderi, but I rather stick with Coburn. But like I said, if they'd do that trade, I'd make it. |

Would the Flyers really trade Coburn and Cousins to move up 6 slots? If they would they could find 3rd team to trade Coburn to for a player Carolina likes. |

Hybrid icing, mandatory visors, shallower nets and video review on four-minute highsticking penalties will all be introduced next season, pending approval from the NHL's board of governors.
Making the net 4 inches shallower will make Briere's office bigger next season.
He will score 30 for another team with the Flyers paying most of his salary. - Marc D
i like all of those changes. the cost for danny is low at this point. doesn't come from the cap. should make no difference to us as fans. |

I agree.
It has become almost expected for ex-Flyers to go on and have success.
Especially against the Flyers.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. |

I don't think Coburn is all that attractive to other teams with that contract.
I'm not saying he has negative value, but why give up assets for him when you could just sign a guy like Scuderi? |

If the Flyers could trade Coburn for the kind of player I think it would take to send to Carolina to make the deal work. I would think the Flyers would just keep the player, and the 11th, and call it a day. |

I don't think the contract is an issue. I just don't think he's the player Carolina wants to move down for. Scuderi is soon to be 35. While Coburn is 28. |

Anyone else think that Voynov signed low and could have gotten more elsewhere?

possibly. he may not have wanted to go anywhere else.
edit: he's another player with a really small body of work. 102 NHL games. I think if I were his agent, I would have pushed for a contract lasting until his first UFA season. You can of course, add Player Agent to the long list of things I'm in no way qualified to be in this life. |

I don't think so.
I think on the defensive side he has a lot of work to do.
He was put in situations where he could succeed by Sutter. |

I admit that I am happy sometimes when I come back to my desk and find that Homer hasn't completely dismantled the team.

from D Dreger on the TSN page
Does Pavel Datsyuk's extension mean Valtteri Filppula is unaffordable for the Red Wings?
Dreger: It seems that way. He's a pending unrestricted free agent and word on the street suggests that Filppula wants as much as $5.5 million per year on a mega-deal. Outside the organization - seven years, inside - eight years. That's too much.
I mean that is Mark Streit money, guy is getting carried away.
- Marc D
This is why I stay away from free agency. What a joke. |

Aren't they also making goalie pads smaller? Bigger 5-hole or something like that? - JAKEw1234
yup
Ron Hainsey spoke to gm's and acknowledged their urgency in shrinking goalie equip. Height of pads likely to be reduced by 10%...
Also seems like they want to outlaw the spin-o-rama move in the shootout.
