So... you are saying the Flyers never really had any interest in Doey from the start? So disappointing. |

Tommy Trapmann really needs to be run out of the league. He's killing hockey. |

So the speculated 11th pick and Coburn is a bit rich for Ryan with the other needs we have. But if Mezaros was the odd man out Matt Read was going to be the cost for Bernier, would Mezaros and Read be enough for Ryan and Hiller assuming Bryz is bought out as speculated although not confirmed. I'd rather not give up the 11th pick. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Silly Season Gets Sillier - bmeltzer
I've seen so many rumors on Twitter - I saw one person post this: Read and next years first for Bernier, Coburn and 11th overall for Ryan and Coots for Yandle and sign Scuderi. That leaves us with too Many D and not enough forwards.
Hartnell - Giroux - Ryan
Simmonds - Schenn - Voracek
Gagne - Laughton - Talbot
? - ? - ?
Yandle - Schenn
Timonen - Grossmann
Streit - Scuderi
Mesz - Gus |

Certainly not. You'd have to add a lot more. Just for comparision, we discussed Letang/Niskanen for Ryan/Sbisa on our board. Meszaros certainly is not the player he once was. |

How about the Flyers, for once, deciding to be a team that shows some patience in the market? - bmeltzer

I have my doubts about the rumors involving Coburn for Ryan. However, if he is dealt may be they feel good about the development of Gus, Lauridson, and Alt. If they're good enough, gotta make room eventually on the big club some time. |

No need at all for us to pick up Ryan right now, unless the price is right, lets say mez and next years 1st rounder (hopefully it'll be in the 20's). But coburn and the 11th is too much. Now read for bernier I would pull the trigger on in a heart beat. Read is an excellent player, and brings a lot too this team, but I've wanted bernier in black and orange since the day he was drafted. The way we always seem to send players LAs way makes me feel like this is gonna happen.
Lets try not to pull a "bobrovsky" this summer homer. |

I want them to hold on to the pick. Be patient, and wait to see how the market bears out. OS Bernier if you get the opportunity, but hold on to their assets for a change.
Not only do I think this is the right move, it is also the smart move.
It is almost as if Holmer and the Flyers believe their own hype sometimes. They are like a crackhead who wants to quit but keeps being brought back by the samples given out. There will be plenty of goalies available this summer who will give you similar production as Bryz at less cost.
They need to stop this practice of laser focusing on one player and doing whatever it takes to get it done.
No Rob Ryab either! |

It's just too hard to tell what might be going down.
I don't think the Flyers need to go crazy over any of the goaltenders that could potentially be available -- hell, if worst comes to worst, you can move Andrej Meszaros for whatever, clear his and Daniel Briere's salary from the books, and roll from there in cap compliance with Ilya Bryzgalov back for one more season.
That's not what I would do, with Bryzgalov, but you could do that.
But...I don't know. I'm no mind reader. I'm not necessarily freaking out over what the Flyers might or might not do, but I am one of those people who has watched this franchise for decades, so we all know this: The odds of them being quiet is...well, pigs are flying in this thread.
Draft weekend is going to be...something. You can feel it. |

The only thing I can say with absolute certainty is: The Flyers will do something between now and July 5th and some of us will be happy with it and some of us will be ticked off.

Especially with the premium on NHL caliber d men. Coburn had a bad year but his body of work is worth more than this. I would rather trade Mezaros in that deal. Beside, Coburn has a partial NMC in his contract I think. |

So it looks like the Avs are set on taking Mackinnon or Drouin. I want no part of trading the #11 pick at this point. Bernier and Ryan will cost too much for what they may bring. Small trade and maybe sign another UFA dman, but I don't want them gutting this team. Patience. |

If the feeling is the flyers still need to rebuild the blueline even after a Mark Streit signing, then maybe we shouldn't be signing him for 5.25 at 4 years. Unless the flyers bring in a legit number 1 within the next year, we have our hands tied because we need to extend such players as Giroux, Schenn and Couturier. I'm happy to have a puck mover and more offense from the point but he's not a number 1.
Bobby Ryan isn't the most important need but I do think it would be more important to grab him for what he is then paint Streit a number 1 dman until we actually find a real one. |

But seriously, do you really think you'll get B.Ryan AND Hiller (a established goaltender) for only Read and Meszaros? That's absurd Read is not worth Bernier either. |
