Wow, Montreal looking for another Small soft center that disappears once the playoffs come THAT'S ALL WE NEED ..I am actually hoping Timmins can rid the Habs of either Desharmus or that loser Plekanec, Anyone who thinks those are Top Two centers is a moron..
- jillann

Small yes but not a playoff performer hell no. The playoffs Briere brings A game.

If they can get him at a reasonable price, I could see him being a great second line middleman for the Wild.

Where does Ek get these rumors from? Briere wants to stay close to home and will most likely be going to the Devils or Islanders. Remember my little rumor chart here and we'll see who's right between me and Ek

Agreed, Briere said his kids will stay in Philly and keep attending the same school. He will look for a job in the area.

Briere's only disappearances came in the regular season. He was a playoff animal.

He doesn't know who will have actual interest, yet. He may not have the option of staying close to home if he wants to play a few more years (as he's said). The boys CAN be in their mother's custody if it works out better for them all that way. It's just that up to this point, them living with Danny was the best solution for everyone.

Montréal has decided, under MB, to go with youth. It's why I just dont get those rumours (Brière and even Iginla). You get those veterans when you're on the verge to be a true contender and the Habs are not there just yet.

Top priorities for habs are, imho :

Get a good goalie coach to get Price playing like a solid #1 Goalie ;
Get bigger on the wings ;
Get tougher on D ;

and let our kids get some valuable experience.

- kameroski

Trade Price to St. Louis for Halak and Stewart
Win-win: Get back the goalie you should have kept + actual size, and ST. Lou frees up money to lock up Pietrangelo/Shattenkirk/Berglund long term.

Not only that, Briere is FAR from soft. He may not be very good defensively, but he scores the majority of his goals ugly and he goes to the hard places in the offensive zone regularly. For a guy as small as he is, he plays with a ton of grit.

St Louis is going to be in tough to keep the guys they have let alone bringing in more Ufa's.
- Iggysbff

Just wondering, what kind of contract do you think Briere is going to get?

And we will be just fine keeping our own guys.

The Blues have to play in St. Louis. That is an issue in itself.

Ouch, that hurts!

No way.

The Blues need to keep Stewart.

And I really am not that interested in Price. I would rather the Blues give it one more year with Halak and figure out what they want to do going forward based on his performance next season.

Oh, and Peitrangelo may get a long term deal, but the others won't.

That is not how the Blues roll, and a big reason why they don't have terrible contracts on their books, unlike a lot of other teams.

I wouldn't mind Nonis inquiring about Briere, I think he could be a good mentor for Kadri. Similar players.

Just listen to this trade..Open mind Pittsburgh has done nothing recently, Fleury has deteritoorated, Crosby wants to win. They have alot of fowards..Malkin, Fleury and Orpik to Montreal for Carey Price, Tomas Plekanec and Markov.. alance it with picks/Prospects Anyway you like...pENS ADD A GOOD CENTER THAT WOULD BE A pERFECT #2 Behind Sidney, a veteran defenseman and a goalie who can get them relaible goaltending, And really needs to get ot of Montreal..Habs get that tio center they have always needed. Any thoughts.
