Ya but he was, I think was my point. Imo it was a mistake to take a goalie 1st overall. That just seems like a recipe for disaster. - JAKEw1234
He won them a Cup. He might be a shadow of what he was then, but he won them a Cup. |

I hope the Leafs miss the playoffs. I don't hate them. I just think it would be funny. - PhillySportsGuy
See, I hope every team but the Flyers misses the playoffs. I'm a Flyer fan, not a hockey fan. If that makes any sense. |

For one of the strongest top nines in the league they sure struggled to put pucks in the net. - mayorofangrytown
And they were one of the worst 5 on 5 teams in the league last year. What if their power play hadn't been red hot all year? They have a lot to prove and shouldn't be mentioned as some of the leagues best top 9. |

Idk they have Crosby and Malkin so I wouldn't say he (singular) won them the cup. He was part of it, for sure. |

eh, he was more than fine for the way the team was constructed for a number of years. and the debate can go on forever whether he helped win the cup or they won in spite of him. my opinion on that matter has been said enough. however, right now he is just too mentally frail to be considered dependable enough to be the guy". |

I'd love it, just because I hate the pompous way their fans act despite the fact they haven't won since 1967. That, and the fact that they talk about how their players all suck, but want elite talent in exchange for them in trade scenarios. - jmatchett383
They remind me of Yankee fans in that they believe something has gone horribly wrong when they don't win. |

I just threw up. Good player, would love to have him. But that's a little steep. I figured Hartnell range. Maybe locker room stuff increased his value.

I guess. That's a lot of money for a guy who isn't a natural scorer. |

regardless of the stats, fleury bailed them out more times than he sunk them that year. he sure helped to win it. |

Yes, Malkin won the Conn Smythe and Crosby was no slouch. But he was unbelievable that playoff year as well as 07/08. Problem is, for Pittsburgh, he hasn't played near that level in the playoffs since, yet he's held up high on this pedestal where the blame always gets shifted to some other problem. Seems like they've finally caught on that he's just checked out come playoff time the last 4 years. |

IMO the biggest aspect of the Flyers turnaround in 07-08 was the emergence of Richards and Carter. Obviously Timonen had a lot to do with it as well, but none of the guys the Flyers signed this offseason are close to him. - PhillySportsGuy
I agree to some extent but don't shortchange the steadying influence of vets like Timonen, Briere, Hatcher, Smith and even Marty Biron on that team. As well as Richards and Carter played, that teams goes nowhere without the additions of Smith, Briere, Timonen, Hartnell and the benefit of having a full season of Coburn and Biron. |

Fluery is one of a few goalies that does not scare me at all. Lundqvist (stupid Swedish name) scares the crap out of me, Fluery makes me feel like we have a chance to beat them.
Not normally a quality in an elite goalie. |

To me, he's a fantastic power forward and a great captain. It's high, but if that's what it took to lock him up, I say it's a good deal for both. |

For all the Hype that goes with Crosby, I've never seen him as a Lemiuex/Gretzky type. He's one the of best players in the league, but he's not legendary material IMO. |

for the kings. dont get me wrong, i am a huge fan of brown. to me, that is about what he should be worth. and with how ridiculous things are today, if you come to a fair deal without overpaying, i think it is a win all around.
they lock up their captain, who fits their system to perfection. hits. plays a great two way game. and yeah hes not a pure sniper for goals, but he can consistently be mid 20s.
when you look at the deals given to clarkson and clowe, who are lesser versions of him, id take brown at that deal any day of the week |
