I am completely convinced he's the next one. Crosby can't hold this kids jock. I was watching highlights of Morin. I was wondering who this kid was during most of the highlights of Morin. It was Mcdavid making unbelievable passes. Looking like a man amongst boys against players 2 years older than him.

Flat out unbelievable.

Side note, the more I watch of Morin the more I like him. For a huge guy he can really skate well. I think he can be a pretty good D man if he puts it all together.

Well said. Brodeur was asked to do the least. Very interesting debate with those 3 players.
- PLindbergh31

The thing is, I think Brodeur's a HOFer on another, less capable defensive team....the numbers might not be as stellar, but he'd be an outstanding goalie regardless.

OK. Hasek, Roy, Brodeur.

I guess it was Karl Dykhuis' bouncer from the blueline that beat Hasek for a PO OT winner that is burned into my memory kinda leans me toward that order.

That said, any order would be fine with me really. But if I had to choose one, it would be Roy.

Brodeur gave up one of the worst goals in SCF history. So anyone can have a bad moment.

The fact Brodeur has won 3 Cups and has never won a Conn Smythe is telling imo.

Very difficult to rank them for me. If we had to choose a Goalie to build a team around. I'd be very happy to choose 3rd.

I'd be happier with Hasek or Roy

Absolutely. I would like to see NHL coaches, executives, and players rank them.

Corey Crawford should have won this year. He did a great job for the 'Hawks...(frank)ing Butsy called it, too.

Couple years back, he said Crawford was gonna be a good one

True.

But watching Karl Dykhuis' bouncer live and up close just resonates.

I'd love to see veteran GMs, HHOFers, and active guys vote on the greatest of all time and see the results

Homer would pass and select Mike Ricci.

Butsy seems to call em well, I still remember him calling B. Schenn a good one. I think the Flyers will be an excellent team this year. Im excited as hell to watch em. Hopefully Scotty L. makes it hard for the Flyers not to send him down. Its gonna be a good year for the Flyers. Hopefully the Eagles can play some damn football as well.

Well, I haven't read a valid argument that points out that it's unfair. You mentioned Stamkos. Do you think that Stamkos and Mike Bossy are comparable players skill wise?
- MJL

I honestly don't know enough about Bossy to say. I do know that his career high 68 goals in 80-81 equates roughly to 49 goals in today's league, so I might say Stamkos is a tier above.

I don't know how you come to that conclusion, but whatever.

How many roster players does an NHL team need on day 1? 22(13-7-2)?

You can play with 20.

Miss Butsy's prospective and sense of humor. Hope he comes back to posting one day.

Yup. If they agreed to do it, I'm sure it would have to be anonymously.

So having 20 on the roster day 1 is OK(assuming they put Rosehill, Hall, Gervais on waivers).

Read my post a few pages back that compared the average goals for in 1981 to the average goals for in 2011. It concluded that a goal in this era is worth just a hair over 1.4 goals in that era. From there I take Bossy's 68 goals, and divide it by 1.4. It's pretty simple math, actually.

It may be simple math, but it's flawed. You're grouping the stats from the entire NHL of hundreds and hundreds of players, and wrongly assuming that it would apply to every player. And that it somehow enables you to predict how many goals Bossy would score in today's game. Lots of variables there.

I think maybe what would need to be done is take the average goals scored by a team per game over the last 40 years to get a baseline. Rather than using the 2011 number.

No, it's not. It doesn't just ignore the hundreds and hundreds of players from 2011. It's an apples to apples comparison.

I didn't say that it did ignore the hundreds and hundreds of players from 2011. In fact I said the opposite. That premise is fatally flawed.
