I wonder if the Oil gave him a decent signing bonus to leave school. The one problem with the College route is Khaira never would really get that shot at getting mean streak. Going to the Dub or ECHL will allow him to grow his physical aspect of his game.
Problem is another year of College focusing on skating would've probably been better. - Lahey
Fair point.
If you look at his needs for improvement, it's probably asserting himself physically (he used to be really small), skating and IQ (standard enough for big men/late bloomers). He'll at least be able to check the grit and hard work factor off the list for the Oil Kings, they're a pretty tight ship.

It's just odd as a whole. As that person from the other site points out, it kinda (frank)s Michigan at this point. All of a sudden their 3rd man in scoring is gone, this late in the summer.
It's not a grade thing as he's quite smart. One has to think this is Pitlick all over again. Get him in a league that he can better round his strengths. Although I think Pitlick might've been an idiot as well.

Gotcha.
At first when I clicked the link I saw SJ-EDM.
And I thought to myself, that (frank)ing Morris bringing up that 6 goal period or whatever it was. - Lahey
No that was a 3rd period collapse for us. But still, teams like Nashville have gotten by for a long time being consistently outshot about 1-2 shots per game over a season.

I suspect we might take a bit of a page from NSH book when it comes to defensive play. I really think this is the year that the forwards will finally be forced to come back and play smart positional hockey. Hockey that forces shooters to the outside and while it may give up just as many shots as we did last year, they will at least be less prime shots.
