I thinkThere currently is no deal for Hemsky and it sounds like the Oilers plan on using him. Although, I think this situation could change in a heartbeat if someone picks up the phone and offers MacT something...anything...of value
I think the Oilers currently have no interest(in Grabo). I have no clue but That situation could change if they move Hemsky to free up cap room.
I literally have no idea, but I'll say All the excitement, for this summer at least, is over.

My god. With the stupid things you plan out and write I can only imagine how bad your ideas will be live on air when you're just winging it. |

Whatever happened to people starting up Oilers forums? Where's Rhino with a grumpy rant? Whatever happened to Bucky4lifes crazy Richard hatred? Did they get sick of this site like I have been? |

I seem to change my mind every second day in regard to what the Oilers should be doing this season. Overall, I have loved their patient approach towards building an elite team. On the other hand, enough is enough, they are loaded with talent and I would like to see them play consistent winning hockey.
So, some mornings I wake up thinking they should deal a prime player in order to get back players who would help them win right now. But, most mornings I think they should avoid rash decisions, stick with the program, this will be a very good team.
I thought the deal for Perron was outstanding. They added a serious player to their roster without giving up a prime asset. Maybe a similar type of deal for a veteran Dman might helpful. But, solid Dmen are hard to get. Perhaps Hainsey as a UFA is better than anything available on the trade market. Not a big fan of Miller. I would take Tim Thomas as a back up to Dubnyk rather than commit assets for Miller.
Maybe the best thing is to cross your fingers, play Hemsky third line, give him PK and PP time but do not develop expectations of any type around his game. Assume that he will miss a ton of time. On the positive side, it will be $5m in cap space next year. This team is going to be pricey in terms of keeping it together and the extra uncommitted cap space has its own benefits.

Trade Hemsky and N. Schultz for Abdelkader? Pretty fair trade right there.
There's no trade at all for Potter. Nobody wants him. Marincin and Fedun won't be playing on the team this year. Marincin will probably next year, but Fedun will more than likely take longer. Personally, I think he should be used as a piece in a trade along with Lander. |
