The Skatezone is undergoing renovations, I think. I'm not sure they had a choice. |

Group, or race/religion? For instance, I truly hate the WBC and all that they stand for. But I have no hate (maybe some dislike) for Baptists in general. - jmatchett383
I get along with most people, with just one exception. Left handed Danish people, between the heights of 6'3 and 6'4, who smoke cigarillos while drinking nonfat lattes and often seem to wear green only on the 3rd Tuesday of months that have 31 days in them really tick me off. Don't really know why, they just do!

This question may offend some of you, but I was thinking about it on the way to work this morning:
Do you really think you could beat up Sidney Crosby in a street fight? He's 5'11", 200lb, and probably has under 5% body fat. That's not big by hockey standards, but for a regular person, that's actually impressive. So, could you take Crosby? - jmatchett383
Not sure, but I'm guessing one good shot to the head and he's going down.

I'm not sure if that's a complement to Homer or an indictment on the sad state of the other 3 teams.

Combination of both. Holmgren is a good GM, not a great GM. He does a good job under some difficult circumstances.
That said, the competition in Philly isn't that good. Ruben Amaro Jr took $1mm in real estate and turned it into $25 cash. The Sixers new guy has just assumed the job and seems to be setting up a tank year to get a great pick or two and do a complete rebuild. The Eagles GM is really in his first year driving the boat(now that Andy Reid is gone) and is also rebuilding. It remains to be seen what the latter two do. |

Here's my absolutely pointless top 10 list of the day: The top 10 NHL teams I hate the most.
1. The Rangers - There the friggin New York Rangers, what else do I really need to say!
2. The Penguins- Between Crosby, the Crosby love from the media and their annoying front running fans, the Pens royally tick me off!
3. The Devils - They have no fans, their parades were held in a parking lot and all they do is win. I truly hate those guys.
4. The Sabres - For a team that has NEVER won a championship, there fans are just insufferable. Combine that with Matthew Barnaby, the homerism of Rick Jeannerette and the smugness of Lindy Ruff and you have a team I can't stand. The only thing that makes me feel just a bit better about them is that their fans have to live in Buffalo!
5. The Maple Leafs - Talk about annoying fans, Leaf fans take it to another level. The team has barely made the playoffs over the last decade or so; when they won their last Cup, the Beatles were still a working band; and for years they were owned by Harold Ballard and still their fans are absolutely convinced that the Leafs will win the cup every friggin year!
6. The Islanders - Really hated them in the late 70s and 80s, then they sucked for so long I pretty much just forgot about them. Now I'm back to mild hate, mainly cause they play in New York.
7. The Canadiens - Most storied franchise in the league, blah blah blah. Their fans who travel are unfaillingly obnoxious and they speak French. Plus poutine is just gross!
8. The Capitals - The combo of Dale Hunter and the 88 playoffs still ticks me off.
9. The Panthers - Why is this team in the league anyway, they have no fans and folks in Florida would rather watch dog racing and jai alai then this joke of a team.
10. The Stars - They play in Dallas, which means some of their fans are also Cowboy fans. Nuff said! |

He's already used to owning a team that draws fewer fans than monster truck rallies and Winger reunion concerts, so it was a natural fit. |

No. That hasn't happened. There are several groups interested. The Sixers owner is one of them.
There are rumours that he'll relocate both teams but the NHL says the Devils aren't moving so then came the rumours that the Sixers would move to the Prudential Center. Now today someone floated that the Sixers might move to Camden.
I don't think any of it happens. |

Because today's boring:
From Sportsnet.ca
When Sidney Crosby jumps over the boards in NHL arenas it generally makes hockey fans happy, but when he jumps the line at the DMV people get upset.
Over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain skipped past a group of people at the Duncan Manor Department of Motor Vehicles in McCandless, Penn., and he has received some backlash over it.
“I disapprove. He should have to sit and wait with everyone else,” 46-year-old Susan Campbell, who was at the DMV, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which first reported the story.
The Pennsylvania DMV has a policy in place that can allow celebrities to skip to the front of the line in order to cut down on disruptions.
“If they walk in and the place goes crazy with fans, we would just move them in and out,” Jan McKnight, a spokeswoman for the DMV told the Post-Gazette. “It’s a matter of keeping control and keeping disruptions to a minimum.”
Since the story became public, Crosby has taken some heat, but that didn’t stop one of his teammates from poking fun at the situation.
@jneal_18
I skipped the line at the DMV 2. Just incase anyone was wondering.

You're trying to develop the player not save money. A year on the 4th line will put him ahead in his development than another year in juniors. He's already proven that he can be a PPG player in juniors while playing very good two-way hockey.
So what if he ends up hitting rfa or ufa a year early. I would be happy to pay him, if he develops into a good player. He won't be making over $3M until 5 or 6 years from now. There is so much than can happen between now and then. - PhillySportsGuy
Exactly! Worrying about burning a year of his ELC deal, or that he could reach Free Agency early, shouldn't be part of the equation. It's about what's best for the player, and the team.

I have no problem sitting Hall and Rosehill, however I think they may want to carry 8 D to start the season, rather than risk losing Bourdon or Gervais on waivers, especially after what the D went through last year. So if that's the case, they only have room to carry 13 forwards. I guess if they want to keep Laughton, but only 13 forwards overall, they could waive Rosehill. I can't imagine anyone jumping in to claim him off waivers, and even if someone does, it's no big loss. - BiggE
I don't think there's a lot of risk to losing Gervais on Waivers. And I think it's likely that one or the other is demoted anyways.

The guy has zero interest in sports. He buys companies and flips them for a profit. He'll have his work cut out for him with the Devils. Hell, he already does with the Sixers. I'm not sure who is worse.
Apparently the appealing part of the deal is complete stadium ownership, meaning revenue from every concert and sporting event that takes place there, not just owning the Devils... |
